Environmental Protection Specialist

Summary This position is located at Bureau of Engraving and Printing, with in the Office of Environment, Health and Safety at WCF, in Fort Worth, TX. As an Environmental Protection Specialist, you will be responsible for developing, implementing and evaluating Bureau-wide programs designed to ensure safe, healthy, environmentally sound facilities for employees, contractors, visitors and neighbors at its facilities. Responsibilities As an Environmental Protection Specialist, you will: Serve as a Program Manager for industrial waste management, including hazardous and non-hazardous wastes, waste minimization and pollution prevention, spill preparedness, prevention, and response. Maintain all waste management records and data to meet regulatory reporting and Executive Order requirements. Prepare technical reports of environmental analyses and studies undertaken, including findings and recommendations. Develop and prepare instructional and informational material, including official bulletins, newsletters, guides and etc., to promote awareness, understanding, and acceptance of environmental programs and procedures. Take corrective action or reports to proper authorities those safety discrepancies that would be harmful to personnel and/or equipment. Specialized experience for the GS-13 level is one year of experience at the GS-12 level or equivalent that has equipped you with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience includes: -Assisting in the development of, or participating in environmental programs, encompassing hazardous and non-hazardous waste compliance, spill preparedness prevention, and response plans; AND -Making recommendations in matters concerning regulatory requirements that relate to industrial wastewater pretreatment or sanitary wastewater treatment, and storm water management; AND -Serving on a team that operates and maintains an industrial wastewater pretreatment plant or sanitary wastewater treatment plant; or managing a contract for the operations and maintenance of an industrial wastewater pretreatment plant or sanitary wastewater treatment plant. We offer opportunities for flexible work schedules. The facility typically shuts down annually between Christmas and New Year's Day. As such, all BEP employees must take leave for workdays during the shutdown period.
