Administrative Services Clerk (Contract Position)

Schedule: Full-Time, On-Site
Contract Duration: 1–3 Years
Employer: Federal Agency Contractor

Position Overview

A Federal Agency in downtown Detroit is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Administrative Services Clerk to provide administrative, logistics, facility, and office support services. This is an excellent opportunity for candidates who enjoy a variety of responsibilities, including customer service, office administration, mail processing, inventory management, and facility support.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Valid state-issued driver's license required
  • Ability to successfully pass a federal background investigation
  • Minimum of 1–2 years of administrative, clerical, or legal office experience
  • Strong communication, customer service, and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams)
  • Experience with Adobe Acrobat or the ability to learn
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment, including computers, copiers, scanners, and mail equipment

Key Responsibilities

Administrative Support

  • Greet and assist visitors, contractors, and employees
  • Answer and route incoming phone calls and correspondence
  • Manage visitor logs and coordinate visitor access procedures
  • Monitor shared email inboxes and route requests appropriately
  • Schedule conference rooms and assist with meeting coordination
  • Provide general administrative and clerical support to management and staff

Facility & Logistics Support

  • Coordinate maintenance requests and service calls
  • Assist with office moves, workstation setup, and furniture relocation
  • Conduct office walkthroughs and identify maintenance or operational issues
  • Track and inventory office furniture, equipment, and supplies
  • Support fleet vehicle coordination and recordkeeping when assigned

Supply & Inventory Support

  • Receive, organize, and distribute office supplies and equipment
  • Maintain storage areas and supply rooms
  • Monitor inventory levels and assist with replenishment requests
  • Support property accountability and inventory tracking activities

Mail Processing

  • Receive, sort, distribute, and process incoming and outgoing mail and packages
  • Coordinate overnight shipping and delivery services

Security & Access Coordination

  • Assist with access cards, keys, and visitor access procedures
  • Support compliance with facility security policies
  • Report safety and security concerns as needed

Physical Requirements

This position requires both office and physical support duties. Candidates must be able to:

  • Stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, and reach throughout the workday
  • Lift, carry, move, and reposition office furniture, equipment, and supplies weighing up to 80 pounds, with or without assistance
  • Use hand carts, dollies, and other material-handling equipment as needed
