Title Personal Financial Counselor – Sacramento, CA Job Summary Personal financial counselor to serve military service members and families at assigned military installations. Provides personal financial counseling, education, coaching, and resources related to spending plans, debt management, budgeting, and financial goal‑setting. Responsibilities Conduct one‑on‑one financial counseling sessions, briefings, and presentations to service members and families. Develop and deliver a wide variety of personal financial management classes/workshops covering the military lifecycle, including pre‑ and post‑deployment, arrival at first duty station, and personal and career events. Provide education and referral resources to participants outside of counseling sessions. Create and maintain informational financial materials. Utilize virtual counseling and electronic communication methods, including secure online chat and video teleconference. Maintain duty‑to‑warn compliance with DoD protocol and participate in supervision, in‑service training, and quality‑improvement committees. Collaborate with installation and military‑branch points of contact to ensure program scope meets installation needs. Assist service members in establishing spending plans for extended absences. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree required; an associate degree + 4 years’ experience or high school diploma + 6 years’ experience may be considered. Minimum 3 years of financial counseling experience. Must be a U.S. citizen, speak fluent English (bilingual English and Spanish may be required). Must obtain a favorably adjudicated Tier 2 investigation. Must pass the Congressionally Mandated Disclosures for Organizational Conflicts of Interest (OCI) process. Certification as an Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC), Certified Financial Planner (CFP), or Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) is required. Salary Base salary range: $58,440 – $93,500. Positions may also be eligible for short‑term incentives and a comprehensive benefits package.
