Responsibilities

Measure and record vital signs including height, weight, pulse oximetry, and vision testing. Prepare patients for examinations by positioning and draping, and documenting medical history, medications, and allergies. Assist with clinical procedures such as dressing changes, Pap smears, and setting up aseptic or sterile trays. Administer injections, including immunizations, intradermal, and intramuscular. Collect and label specimens such as sputum, stool, throat swabs, urine (UA/Clean Catch), vaginal, and wound samples. Perform laboratory tests including strep testing and urinalysis. Complete office duties like insurance verification, scheduling appointments, stocking supplies, and handling pharmacy calls. Support professional clinical tasks such as medication administration, TB testing, wound care, and patient rooming. Utilize EPIC for charting and documentation requirements. Follow aseptic techniques and maintain compliance with safety protocols in an outpatient infectious disease clinic setting.

Required Skills

Proven experience of at least 6 months working as a Certified Medical Assistant (MA-C) in an outpatient clinic environment. Proficiency in vital sign measurement, specimen collection, and assisting with clinical procedures. Ability to perform laboratory tests such as urinalysis and throat cultures. Familiarity with using electronic medical records, specifically EPIC. Strong understanding of infection control and aseptic technique. Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced outpatient setting.

Additional Skills & Requirements

Current BLS certification required. Valid MA-C license in Washington or a compact license if applicable. High school diploma or equivalent; additional medical assistant certifications are preferred. Minimum of 6 months experience working in an adult outpatient clinic. Willingness to work day shifts, Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Candidates must provide proof of local residence within 50 miles of the clinic and valid licensure and certification documentation. Reliable transportation is essential for commuting to the clinic. This position is open to both local candidates and local travelers, with an emphasis on eventual permanent placement. Previous experience with charting in EPIC is required; scrub color is flexible. No weekend shifts or on-call required.
