Title: Police Officer VP Area: Student Affairs - UMW Department: University Police/Public Safety Campus Location: Main Campus Advertised Range: $59,727 - $76,754 Salary offered will be based on qualifications and is not negotiable beyond the advertised range. Job Summary Primary responsibilities include: Performs law enforcement, crime prevention, security and related public safety functions within state controlled property. Protect life, property and enforce the rules & regulations of the University of Mary Washington and the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia. Provide a safe environment conducive to education and harmony for all members of the University community. Required KSAs/Competencies/Qualifications Knowledge of and experience in the principles and techniques of law enforcement, security, crime detection and prevention, and criminal investigation. Proficiency with police equipment, including carried weapons. Ability to communicate orally and in writing with diverse groups. Ability to interpret laws, policies and regulations governing the institution. Ability to interpret laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia and the United States of America. Required Experience Experience in law enforcement or a related field. Required Education High school graduation or equivalency. Required Licensure Valid driver’s license to operate a University/state owned or leased vehicle. Mandatory certification by the Department of Criminal Justice Services as a Law Enforcement Officer.
