Shift: 6:30 PM - 7:00 AM

Experience:

• 24 months of experience with 3 months worked in the last 12 months.

• 24 months of Medical Surgical - Orthopedic Unit experience with 12 months worked in the last 3 years.

• Experience with Epic is preferred.

Requirements:

• Candidates must have a Nebraska license or compact license (required after submission).

• This role may require floating to additional units and locations

• Travel only, local not allowed. Candidates must live >50 miles from facility to be submitted.

Required Credentials: Pass/fail open-book exam on Friday during orientation on skills learned; all necessary resources are provided. Must receive 90% to pass or contract will be terminated. You are required to pass a Basic Dysrhythmia/EKG exam during onboarding.

Special Requests: Any employment gaps greater than 30 days must be explained. Cannot have worked at any CommonSpirit location within the last 12 months. Candidates may not be full time, part time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity. Cannot apply to more than one job order on the same unit and shift at the facility. Limited block scheduling may be approved. RTO needed upfront (7 or less days per 13 week contract). Additional RTO will not be approved, including after submissions.

Unit Details: MedSurg/Tele ortho trauma patient population includes joint replacements, fractures, colon resections, COPD exacerbation, prostatectomy, cellulitis, sepsis, GI bleeds, pneumonia, and failure to thrive. RNs titrate heparin, lidocaine, and ketamine. PCA pumps are used. Tele techs interpret strips; RNs should have some telemetry awareness. Mechanical lifts are available in every other room. This unit typically has multiple discharges and admissions in one day. Serves patients of all cultures, including Spanish, Karen, and Burmese.

Shift & Scheduling: Travelers will be scheduled. Typically every other weekend, though additional coverage may be needed based on department demand. Schedules are posted 6 weeks in advance, with the manager making adjustments as needed. 2-3 holidays from Thanksgiving to New Year’s.

Floating Requirements: Float to other medical surgical areas or units with MedSurg patients waiting for a MedSurg bed.

7 days maximum time off. Facility holidays: 11/26/2026, 12/25/2026, 01/01/2027. Number of holidays allowed off: 1. Start assignment restriction: 14 days

1 Charge/Lead reference required from within the last 12 months

1 Manager/Supervisor reference required from within the last 3 years

Driver’s license required for submission
