Area Sales Manager, Home Centers New England

Job Title: Area Sales Manager, Home Centers NED Reports To: Manager, Field Sales- Home Centers FLSA Status: Exempt Salary Grade: 15 Location: Remote Sales; candidates must reside in the general Boston area. The Area Sales Manager (ASM) reports to the Field Sales Manager and is responsible for driving growth and market penetration within the assigned territory. Key Responsibilities Business Development & Key Sales Account Management – Develop and sustain customer relationships as the manufacturer representative between the company and fabricators, big‑box channel store level managers, and designers. Develop Strategy – Work with peers and the management team to enhance and develop sales strategies that improve approaches in the markets and increase market share. Maintain existing customer relationships, develop new relationships, and network to grow market share through regular visits and product‑knowledge sessions. Develop and execute comprehensive customer and sales plans to drive business growth. Follow up on new leads and referrals resulting from field activity. Manage projects in the pipeline through quality checks and other follow‑up. Monitor and manage appropriate levels of merchandising materials and samples for assigned customers to support the brand and product. Ensure all customer issues are dealt with proactively and effectively, keeping management informed of any problems that may require escalation. Communicate new product and service opportunities, special developments, information, or feedback gathered through field activity to manager. Collaborate effectively with internal team members to close sales. Maintain an open line of communication with Manager, providing regular input on all account activity, including status and call reports from Salesforce. Regularly utilize and leverage CRM for tracking, maintaining, analyzing, and managing customer requirements. Participate in events such as trade shows, seminars, and other marketing functions. Coordinate shipping schedules and delivery of merchandise and services in collaboration with sales operations and logistics. Develop and maintain a high degree of product and industry knowledge (e.g., attend industry events, trade shows, membership associations). Accommodate a flexible work schedule, including nights and weekends. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications & Skill Requirements Demonstrated experience working with frontline customers (retail sales, account management, hospitality, etc.). Proficient in MS Office applications such as Excel and PowerPoint; experience with Salesforce CRM is a plus. Dependable and team‑oriented with the ability to work independently. Professional appearance and positive company image projection to the public. Strong communication and interpersonal skills; analytical mindset. Creative, coachable, solutions‑based disposition. Working Conditions Road Warrior – 5 days a week in the field. Manual dexterity required to use laptop and peripherals. Lifting or moving up to 25 lbs may be required. Remote office location. Requirements Valid current state driver license. Comfortable working 75% travel within assigned sales region. Minimum 1‑3 years of successful sales, business development, or account management experience in a similar role. Experience in building materials, interior design, or construction industry (advantageous). Experience with premium brands or high‑end products (advantageous). Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for relationship building. Track record of achieving sales targets while maintaining a customer‑centric approach. Strategic thinker capable of analyzing market trends and devising effective sales strategies. Proficient in negotiation of contracts, pricing, and terms to achieve favorable outcomes. Organizational skills: manage time, prioritize tasks, handle multiple projects. Responsive customer service: prompt responses to internal and external needs. Collaborative working relationships with cross‑functional teams and stakeholders. Proficient with technology applications, especially MS Excel and Salesforce CRM.
