GAP Community Child Development Center offers a multi-cultural educational and developmental program for children aged six weeks to five years. Role Description

\n

This is a full-time, on-site role located in Washington, DC for an Infant Teacher- Early Education Child Care professional. The role involves creating a nurturing and stimulating learning environment for young children, implementing age-appropriate educational activities, and ensuring the child's development and well-being. Day-to-day tasks include teaching and guiding children through play-based learning, maintaining positive communication with families, ensuring a safe and clean environment, and adhering to state-mandated educational standards and guidelines.

Position: Infant Teacher

\n

Schedule: 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday

\n

Education: Minimum A.A./A.S. degree in Early Childhood Education or related field

\n

Location: GAP Community Child Development Center, District of Columbia

\n

\n

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

\n

• Minimum A.A./A.S. degree in early childhood education, or a related field, from an accredited institution.

\n

• Must have the ability to effectively communicate with parents on a consistent basis.

\n

Must have reliable transportation.

\n

• Ability to prepare informative and accurate daily reports that keep parents updated on their child’s day & well-being.

\n

\n

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

\n

• Plans, prepares, and delivers lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate active learning.

\n

• Develops schemes of work, lesson plans, and tests that are in accordance with established procedures.

\n

• Instructs and monitors children in the use of learning materials and equipment.

\n

• Uses technology to support and differentiate instruction.

\n

• Manages children’s behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures.

\n

• Encourages and monitors the progress of individual children and uses the information to adjust teaching strategies.

\n

• Maintains accurate and complete records of children’s progress and development, including portfolios.

\n

• Participates in staff training and parent conferences.

\n

• Communicates information regularly to the lead teacher and parents regarding children’s progress and needs.

\n

• Supports children’s performance and development through observations and Ages and Stages Questionnaires (ASQs).

\n

• Works with children from diverse cultural, economic, ability, and background groups.

\n

• Participates in appropriate professional activities.

\n

• Performs all other related work delegated or required to accomplish the objectives of the program.

\n

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

\n

• Must have reliable transportation.

\n

• Clear full background check and health screening.

\n

• Maintain CPR and First Aid certification.

\n

• Pass a yearly health physical and FBI check in accordance with the Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE) requirements; and

\n

• Meet professional teacher education requirements of OSSE.

\n

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

\n

Teachers are regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, operate a computer and hand-held learning devices and other office equipment, reach with hands and arms, and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
