Accounting Manager

Accounting Manager (Temp-to-Hire) We are seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to oversee accounting operations. This role manages full-cycle accounting across multiple legal entities and locations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, timely month‑end close, and adherence to accounting standards. The ideal candidate is hands‑on, detail‑oriented, and thrives in a fast‑paced, multi‑entity environment. Key Responsibilities Oversee full-cycle accounting for 5 legal entities and 50+ locations within the West Region, working across multiple accounting systems. Lead the month‑end close process, ensuring accuracy and timeliness by prioritizing team workload and improving manual processes using advanced Excel tools (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP). Ensure compliance with ASC 606 revenue recognition standards. Review and approve monthly journal entries, including: Accrued revenue and expenses Prepaid amortization Fixed assets Inventory Payroll Cash Accounts receivable retention Customer rebates Intercompany transactions Partner with FP&A during monthly financial reviews to explain variances and financial results. Reconcile and clean up accrued sales and use tax accounts by state; support or dispute audit findings as needed. Manage and close sales and use tax audits, including successfully disputing audit assessments. Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and applicable regulations. Qualifications & Experience Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (required). 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including multi‑entity or multi‑location environments. Prior experience in a managerial or lead accounting role. Strong knowledge of month‑end close, journal entries, and account reconciliations. Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables and VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP. Experience with sales and use tax audits strongly preferred. Ability to work overtime as needed and meet tight deadlines.
