Program Summary The U.S. Army Tank-automotive and Armaments Command (TACOM) sustains the Army's mission to develop, acquire, field, and sustain ground combat, tactical, and support systems throughout their lifecycle. The program focuses on ensuring operational readiness, reliability, and safety of automotive and ground support equipment critical to Army operations. Under this contract, supervisory personnel provide first-line leadership and operational oversight for maintenance and sustainment teams, ensuring work is performed in accordance with Army Technical Manuals (TMs), safety standards, quality requirements, and contractual performance metrics. Job Summary The Biological Science Technician provides technical support for environmental, biological, and occupational health programs at a military installation and industrial maintenance facility. This position assists in the collection, analysis, documentation, and management of biological and environmental data associated with facility operations, vehicle and equipment maintenance activities, natural resource management, and regulatory compliance requirements. - Conduct environmental, biological, and facility inspections to support compliance with federal, state, local, and Department of Defense environmental regulations and policies.
- Collect, document, and manage environmental and biological samples and data related to industrial operations, vehicle maintenance activities, natural resources, air quality, water quality, and hazardous materials programs.
- Assist with environmental monitoring, site assessments, pollution prevention initiatives, and compliance reporting to support facility operations and mission readiness.
- Maintain, calibrate, and operate environmental monitoring, sampling, and testing equipment, ensuring data accuracy and equipment reliability.
- Compile, analyze, and maintain technical records, databases, permits, and reports related to environmental compliance, hazardous waste management, and natural resource programs.
- Coordinate with environmental professionals, engineers, safety personnel, facility managers, and operational staff to identify and resolve environmental issues and implement corrective actions.
- Support environmental stewardship and sustainability efforts by providing technical assistance, conducting employee awareness activities, and recommending improvements to environmental programs and operational practices.
- Knowledge of biological, environmental, or natural resource management principles, practices, and procedures sufficient to support environmental compliance and monitoring programs.
- Experience collecting, documenting, and maintaining biological, environmental, or scientific data, records, and reports with a high degree of accuracy.
- Knowledge of environmental regulations and standards related to air quality, water quality, hazardous materials, hazardous waste, pollution prevention, or natural resource management.
- Ability to conduct field investigations, facility inspections, environmental sampling, and monitoring activities in industrial and operational environments.
- Skill in operating, maintaining, and calibrating environmental monitoring, sampling, and testing equipment.
- Ability to analyze information, identify issues, and recommend corrective actions to support compliance and environmental stewardship objectives.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and experience using databases, data management systems, or Geographic Information System (GIS) applications preferred.
- Ability to communicate effectively with environmental professionals, engineers, military personnel, contractors, and other stakeholders.
- Ability to obtain or maintain a U.S. Government security clearance (as required)
- U.S. citizenship required
- Previous experience supporting DoD, Army, or TACOM programs
- Associate degree in Industrial Technology, Manufacturing, Logistics, or related field
- Experience in tire repair, retreading, or rubber fabrication in a military or industrial environment
- Experience supporting government inspections, audits, and compliance programs
- Knowledge of hazardous material handling and environmental compliance requirements
- Prior government contracting experience
