Job Description
Registered Nurse - Labor and Delivery

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse to join our Labor and Delivery team. This position allows for flexibility with contract lengths of either 13 or 26 weeks, with the option to request up to 2 major holidays off. Our unit supports a collaborative and supportive environment, offering opportunities for engagement through staff book clubs and group dinners.

Position Overview

The Registered Nurse will be primarily responsible for delivering care to patients in the Labor and Delivery unit, which features 8 labor rooms and 4 triage rooms. The role involves attending to patient diagnoses such as labor and preterm labor, as well as providing essential care in various capacities including circulating, OB-GYN, post-operative, pre-operative, scrubbing, low-risk antepartum, and low-risk labor and delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer blood and blood products
• Conduct cardioversion and defibrillation
• Utilize cooling and warming blankets
• Manage drains, epidural pumps, PCA pumps, and syringe pumps
• Provide care using wound vac and administer medications such as heparin, insulin, and magnesium sulfate
• Attend all deliveries including high-risk cases
• Support couplet care and assist in the transition nursery

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience
• Experience with Epic electronic health record system is required
• Active compact nursing license
• Required certifications: BLS, FHM, NRP, AWHONN Intermediate; ACLS preferred

Staffing and Float Requirements

The staffing ratio is set between 1:1 to 1:3. The Registered Nurse may be required to float to Post-Partum and possibly Labor and Delivery at nearby units as necessary.

Schedule

This position includes night shifts, working 4x12-hour shifts (19:00 - 07:30). Block scheduling is not available.
