Finance Director

Finance DirectorWe are seeking a Finance Director to support financial planning and analysis (FP&A) within our Property & Casualty (P&C) insurance business. This role combines core finance responsibilities—forecasting, budgeting, and general ledger oversight—with advanced data and analytics capabilities to drive actionable insights and improve financial decision-making. The ideal candidate will act as a bridge between Finance, Actuarial, and Data teams to ensure alignment across financial results, operational drivers, and analytical outputs.Key Functions/Duties of Position:Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A)Lead the annual budgeting process and periodic forecasting cycles (monthly/quarterly) for P&C lines of businessDevelop driver-based financial models incorporating premiums, claims, loss ratios, and expensesAnalyze variances between actuals, forecasts, and plan; clearly communicate drivers and risksPartner with business leaders to provide financial insights that support strategic planningGeneral Ledger & Financial Close SupportSupport close processes by reconciling financial results with underlying operational and actuarial dataPerform general ledger "tie-outs" and ensure accuracy of financial reportingInvestigate discrepancies across systems (policy admin, claims, finance) and resolve issuesCollaborate with Accounting to ensure proper treatment of insurance-specific transactions (e.g., reserves, premium recognition)Data & Analytics IntegrationAct as a key liaison between Finance and Data/Analytics teamsTranslate business and finance requirements into data models, dashboards, and reporting solutionsUtilize data tools (e.g., Power BI, SQL, Excel, Python) to automate reporting and generate insightsEnhance data governance and ensure consistency across financial and operational metricsBusiness PartneringWork closely with Actuarial, Underwriting, and Claims teams to understand business driversProvide insights on profitability, loss trends, and expense managementSupport decision-making on pricing, product performance, and cost optimizationQualificationsEducation Requirement• Bachelor's degree in Finance or AccountingQualifications:• 10+ years of experience in FP&A, finance, or accounting• Strong understanding of insurance concepts (loss ratios, reserves, premiums, underwriting results), with PNC experience preferred• Proven experience in forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis• Solid understanding of general ledger structures and financial reportingPreferred:• Experience working with actuarial or insurance data sets• Advanced Excel skills; familiarity with data tools (Power BI, Tableau, SQL, Python)• Advanced degree (MBA or Master's) in Finance, Accounting, or Business strongly preferred• CPA, CFA, preferred or in progress toward certificationAdditional Company DetailsThe company offers a competitive compensation plan and robust benefits package for full time regular employees which for this role include:Base Salary Range: $110,000 - $170,000Eligible to participate in annual discretionary bonus.Benefits: Health, Dental, Vision, Life, Disability, Wellness, Paid Time Off, 401(k) and Profit-Sharing plans.The actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment.Sponsorship DetailsSponsorship not Offered for this Role
