We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support accounting operations for a Contract position based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. This opportunity is ideal for someone who enjoys working across core financial processes, from general ledger activity to reconciliations and close support, within a construction and contractor environment. The role will contribute to accurate reporting, organized recordkeeping, and timely completion of key accounting tasks.

Responsibilities:
• Manage month-end activities by preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, and reviewing items such as prepaid expenses and payroll-related transactions.
• Support monthly, quarterly, and annual close cycles by organizing financial close schedules and helping ensure reporting deadlines are met.
• Analyze balance sheet and income statement fluctuations to provide clear, useful information for management review.
• Oversee fixed asset records by tracking additions, calculating depreciation, and completing related reconciliations.
• Maintain the integrity of the general ledger through detailed account review and prompt resolution of discrepancies.
• Perform bank reconciliations and verify that cash activity is accurately reflected in financial records.
• Assist with bi-weekly payroll processing and related accounting entries as needed.
• Use QuickBooks Online or QuickBooks Desktop to record transactions, maintain accurate accounting data, and support reporting needs.• Demonstrated experience preparing journal entries, maintaining general ledger accounts, and supporting month-end close activities.
• Strong Excel skills with the ability to organize data, perform analysis, and improve accuracy in reporting.
• Solid understanding of account reconciliations, including balance sheet reviews and cash reconciliation work.
• Experience handling fixed assets, depreciation schedules, and related accounting documentation.
• Familiarity with payroll processing and the associated accounting impact.
• Proficiency with QuickBooks Online, QuickBooks Desktop, or similar accounting software.
• Strong analytical ability, close attention to detail, and a high level of accuracy in day-to-day work.
• Effective organizational, written, and verbal communication skills with the ability to manage deadline-driven priorities.
