Lead Field Scheduler

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Lead Field Scheduler based in United States.

This role offers the opportunity to lead project scheduling activities on complex pipeline projects while working closely with project, engineering, construction, cost, and client teams.
You will play a key role in developing, maintaining, and analyzing detailed project schedules throughout the project lifecycle.
Using Primavera P6 and other project controls tools, you will identify critical paths, monitor performance, and surface risks before they impact delivery.
The position combines hands-on scheduling expertise with strategic insight, requiring strong judgment and proactive communication.
You will initially support a field assignment in West Virginia before transitioning to regular monthly site travel.
The role is well suited to an experienced project controls professional who enjoys solving complex scheduling challenges and influencing project outcomes.

Accountabilities

• Develop, maintain, and support detailed project schedules in accordance with client procedures, project requirements, and industry best practices.
• Implement project controls tools, methodologies, and scheduling processes to support effective project execution.
• Perform critical path analysis, identify schedule risks and variances, and provide actionable recommendations and corrective measures.
• Collaborate with project managers, construction teams, engineering, client representatives, cost analysts, and other stakeholders to identify, assess, and manage project risks.
• Monitor schedule performance and proactively investigate deviations from approved project baselines.
• Develop schedule contingency plans and provide insights to support project decision-making and risk mitigation.
• Produce regular project updates, look-ahead schedules, actuals reports, schedule quality reports, and other project performance deliverables.
• Support month-end closing activities, phase-gate processes, and other project controls requirements.
• Maintain standardized and organized repositories for schedule files, documentation, and supporting project records.
• Analyze project data and develop reports that provide meaningful visibility into schedule performance and overall project progress.
• Assemble supporting documentation in response to project team and client requirements.
• Work closely with cost analysts to develop time-phased cost forecasts and strengthen integration between schedule and cost management.
• Interface regularly with project management to monitor performance, address emerging issues, and support timely project delivery.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience working on pipeline projects, with substantial hands-on experience in project scheduling.
• Proficiency with Primavera P6 and practical knowledge of project controls methodologies and processes.
• Post-secondary education or equivalent relevant professional background.
• Strong understanding of project planning, scheduling, project controls, and schedule performance monitoring.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with project teams, clients, vendors, and stakeholders at varying levels.
• Advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly Microsoft Excel and/or Microsoft Access , including the ability to create detailed spreadsheets, workbooks, and databases.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a questioning mindset toward project deviations and schedule risks.
• High attention to detail and a commitment to producing accurate, high-quality deliverables.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, collaborate effectively, and work proactively with limited supervision.
• Willingness to learn new skills, understand project team needs, and contribute meaningfully to project operations.
• Related engineering, project controls, planning, scheduling, or earned value experience is valued, particularly within the power industry.
• AACE CST or PMI-equivalent certification is preferred.
• Progress toward AACE CCP, CEP, PSP, PRMP, EVP, or PMI-equivalent credentials is a plus; equivalent training or designated proficiency testing may also be considered.
• Ability and willingness to work initially on a field assignment in West Virginia for approximately two to three months , followed by regular monthly travel to the site.
