The Opportunity: The instructional aide will work as an assistant teacher under the direction of the classroom teacher and the principal. The aide will assist the teacher in providing instruction to students in both Spanish and English, and in planning and developing a positive learning environment that focuses on high academic achievement in two languages. In addition, the aide will work with pupils individually and in small group activities, create instructional materials, and assist with recess and lunch supervision. The successful candidate will collaborate with grade‑level, cluster, and whole‑school teams of teachers, including specialists in ESL, SSL, and Special Education. The candidate must help implement an academically and linguistically active curriculum that is developmentally appropriate and socially/culturally responsive to the dual‑language student population.
