Grant Writer

About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Grant Writer to join Cornell Scott Hill Health Center. In this role, you will be responsible for developing, writing, and submitting competitive grant proposals that support the organization's programs and strategic initiatives. The Grant Writer will collaborate closely with the Director of Grant Programs & Research and multidisciplinary teams across medical, dental, behavioral health, and enabling services to ensure timely and accurate submissions. This position is ideal for someone with strong writing skills, attention to detail, and a passion for supporting community health through funding development.

Key Responsibilities

• Develops, writes, edits, and submits grant applications and Change in Scope requests for new and existing programs.
• Collaborates with internal stakeholders to gather programmatic, clinical, and financial information required for applications.
• Prepares complete grant submissions, including all required attachments and supporting documentation, for leadership review.
• Utilizes electronic grant submission systems, including HRSA Electronic Handbook (EHB), Grants.gov, GrantSolutions, and eRA Commons.
• Maintains communication with grant-making organizations to provide additional materials or clarification during the review process.
• Coordinates and submits grant reports for internal and external use, as required.
• Maintains organized records of grant submissions, historical files, and tracking systems.
• Prepares UDS Mapper maps and supporting data analyses as needed
• Conducts research and prepares reports, including needs assessments, market analyses, and other materials for leadership and Board review.
• Revises and updates the organization's Needs Assessment annually for internal and external reporting purposes.
• Ensures all submissions meet deadlines, compliance requirements, and quality standards.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in a related field required.
• Minimum of five (5) years of grant writing experience; technical writing experience preferred.
• Proven experience developing successful proposals for highly competitive grants.
• Strong understanding of the full grant lifecycle, including application development, submission, and reporting.
• Experience with electronic grant submission systems such as Grants.gov and HRSA Electronic Handbook (EHB).
• Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills with strong attention to detail.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and work under pressure.
• Strong organizational, time management, and project management skills.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
• Experience in a healthcare or community-based setting is preferred.
