Labor and Employment Associate

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Employment Law Associate Attorney with 7 10 years of relevant experience to join our growing legal team in Lake Success, NY. This role offers the opportunity to handle sophisticated labor and employment matters across litigation, administrative proceedings, compliance and day-to-day employment law counseling.

The ideal candidate is a self-motivated, detail-oriented attorney with strong communication skills, sound legal judgment and a genuine interest in continuing to develop their practice. You will work closely with clients, HR professionals, management teams and legal colleagues while advising on a broad range of employment matters.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage employment litigation from discovery through trial, including discovery motions, motions to dismiss and summary judgment motions.
• Handle employer arbitrations and proceedings before agencies and administrative tribunals, including the EEOC, NYS DHR and NYCCHR.
• Represent clients in state and federal court litigation involving labor and employment matters.
• Manage agency compliance matters, including audits, investigations and inspections.
• Provide legal advice on hiring, employee relations, terminations, discrimination, harassment and wage-and-hour matters.
• Conduct legal research and analysis to support sound legal advice and recommendations.
• Draft, review and negotiate employment-related agreements, policies and other legal documents.
• Collaborate with HR, management and internal legal teams to promote compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
• Monitor developments in employment law and advise clients on potential legal and operational impacts.
• Manage multiple matters and priorities while maintaining strong attention to detail, deadlines and client service.

Required Qualifications:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
• Active membership in good standing with the applicable state bar.
• 7 10 years of relevant labor and employment law experience.
• Experience handling state and federal court litigation.
• Strong knowledge of federal, state and local employment laws.
• Experience with employment litigation and administrative agencies, including the EEOC, NYS DHR and NYCCHR.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
• Strong writing, proofreading and legal research abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Self-motivated, organized and detail-oriented approach to legal work.

Compensation & Benefits:

• Salary: $145,000 $175,000, commensurate with experience
