Watts & Associates is working discreetly with a highly regarded Am Law 200 ranked national law firm seeking a 5 plus year Patent Attorney or Patent Agent to join its San Francisco, California office. This is a fully transactional patent prosecution role focused on sophisticated technology matters, with substantial drafting and prosecution responsibility and regular direct interaction with inventors, scientists and technical stakeholders. The role is structured as non partnership track for attorney candidates. The firm offers a collaborative intellectual property platform with experienced practitioners, national resources and a steady flow of complex prosecution work. Candidates who prefer an in office environment and enjoy working closely with engineers and technical teams should find the day to day work especially engaging. The Opportunity Work will focus on drafting and prosecuting United States and international patent applications, developing prosecution strategy, responding to office actions and managing active patent portfolios. The practice has a particular need for practitioners with fluency in wireless telecommunications concepts including 5G, 6G and WiFi, and the ability to translate complex electrical engineering concepts into clear patent specifications and claims. Ideal Candidate Profile At least 5 years of substantial patent prosecution experience, including drafting and prosecuting patent applications Active United States Patent and Trademark Office Patent Bar registration Bachelor degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, with transcripts available upon request Technical depth in wireless telecommunications including 5G, 6G and WiFi Ability to work in the San Francisco office five days per week Willingness to provide a resume, transcripts and a patent application writing sample as part of the process Why This Opportunity Stands Out This role offers a strong blend of hands on drafting, prosecution strategy, meaningful client exposure and close work with inventors on advanced wireless technologies.
