About the Role Most healthcare investors wait for companies to come to them. This role creates them. As a New Ventures Associate, you will research opportunities across the healthcare landscape to identify space for new venture backable companies to be built or scale. You will build the competitive landscapes and market analyses that separate real opportunities from noise, and help turn that work into investment theses the team can act on. Our job is to evaluate and identify the right opportunities for venture creation and/or scaling while directing other solutions to the proper channel within the Cedars‑Sinai organization. You will continue to develop the infrastructure that lets us do this repeatedly and you will spend real time in the local innovation community, building the relationships with investors and founders. This is a strong role for someone early in their career who wants to get exposure to venture at the heart of where healthcare is delivered through a truly unique partnership. You will work directly with New Ventures and Cedars‑Sinai leadership, help turn thematic research into opportunities to fund companies, and have access to clinical and institutional partners. We are looking for someone with 1 to 3 years of experience in investing (banking, venture, PE, or other relevant areas) or research (consulting, strategy, other relevant areas) including with a preference for candidates with exposure to healthcare and digital health. We’r looking for someone with sharp analytical judgment, genuine curiosity about healthcare innovation, and the ability to earn credibility with clinicians, operators, and entrepreneurs. You should be able to move quickly, be comfortable with ambiguity, and provide succinct answers to complex problems. This position is based in Los Angeles and will work onsite 3‑4 days per week in our Cedars‑Sinai office. What You’ll Do: Evaluate and research commercial opportunities in healthcare. Identify Commercially Viable Opportunities: Find opportunities that address specific challenges within Cedars‑Sinai and are emblematic of systemic challenges that health systems across the country face, ensuring they are strategically aligned with organizational goals. Redesign Research: Apply Redesign Health’s scoring frameworks and leverage RH venture‑building methodologies to evaluate, prioritize, and refine innovation opportunities Direct opportunities that don’t meet the level of a new or scalable venture opportunity to the right teams and/or channels that are more appropriate to address those pain points Support the Infrastructure for the Digital Innovation Program at Cedars‑Sinai Socialize the Innovation Program: Foster a culture of creativity and innovation among staff by promoting the innovation program across the organization. Meet with Stakeholders: Engage with stakeholders to learn about the various departments and institutes at CS, fostering collaboration and understanding of organizational needs. Finalize Opportunity Zones: Driving identification and evaluation of opportunity zones to determine whether we believe there are viable investment theses for company creation. Create the End to End Pipes: Leverage the existing infrastructure (i.e., internal submissions, areas of research, founder referrals) to fine tune an end to end pathway of evaluation to execution where every stakeholder feels included in the process. Source and Co‑ideate with founders once an opportunity is identified Build and maintain a strong network of external founders, continuously cultivating relationships with entrepreneurs aligned with Cedars‑Sinai's strategic priorities. Evaluate external founders for partnership and company creation opportunities that advance Cedars‑Sinai's mission and innovation objectives. Serve as a thought partner throughout venture development, providing strategic guidance before and after operating company (OpCo) formation. Facilitate meaningful connections between founders and Cedars‑Sinai stakeholders, resources, clinicians, and ecosystem partners. Lead the development and launch of new venture‑backed companies that leverage validated opportunities and create meaningful impact across the healthcare ecosystem. Successfully launch at least one new company annually in partnership with a founder, translating identified opportunities into scalable healthcare businesses. What You’ll Need 1–3+ years of experience in venture capital, early‑stage investing, startups, or a related field Healthcare domain expertise preferred with the ability to develop original investment theses across care delivery, health tech, and digital health Fluency in business model analysis, primary and secondary research, investment thesis development, and financial modeling Bachelor’s degree required with demonstrated academic excellence Core Competencies Institutional Credibility: You hold your own in a room with senior clinicians and health system executives. You have worked inside or alongside a complex organization and understand how decisions actually get made, who needs to be brought along, and how to be useful to the people building internal support.
