Job Title: 3rd shift- Assembly Operator

Starting Pay Rate: $20.75 per hour( $21.25 after 90 days)
Schedule: 11pm-7am, with mandatory overtime as needed
Reports To: Assembly Supervisor

Job Summary:
We are seeking a dependable and motivated Assembly Operator to join our team. This position is responsible for assembling automotive bumpers and components according to established work instructions and quality standards. The Assembly Operator will perform a variety of tasks including washing bumpers, retrieving materials, installing components, inspecting parts, and moving bumpers through the assembly process. Positions within the assembly cells are rotated throughout the shift to promote safety, quality, and efficiency.

Responsibilities:
• Wash bumpers on tables, stands, and floor racks as required
• Retrieve bumpers from racks ranging from floor level to 6 feet high and transport them to assembly stations
• Retrieve attachments and components from racks and shelving, including materials stored up to 74 inches high
• Retrieve boxes of small components such as nuts and bolts from shelves; boxes may weigh up to 40 pounds
• Assemble bumpers by attaching nuts, brackets, lights, wiring, and plastic components according to work instructions
• Perform repetitive hand and wrist movements and use fine motor skills to manipulate nuts, washers, clips, and other components
• Use a 12-pound nut runner at approximately 4-foot height to fasten nuts and use a rubber mallet to install bumper attachments
• Operate two-handed manipulators and hoists, when assigned, to assist with lifting and placing assembled bumpers into floor racks
• Manually lift, carry, and place bumper parts weighing approximately 6.7 to 63.5 pounds
• Move bumpers and parts between assembly stations as they progress through the production process, individually or with another employee when required
• Push and pull racks of bumpers using up to 25 pounds of force
• Follow all safety, quality, production, and work instruction requirements
• Meet established production standards, with a target rate of approximately 500 bumpers per 8-hour shift
• Rotate between assembly positions, generally up to every 2 hours, as assigned
• Maintain a clean and organized work area
• Additional duties as assigned

Shift is 8 hours. May work overtime up to 10-12 hours. Employees receive two 10-minute breaks per shift and one 20-minute meal break. Employees get paid the entire time they are clocked in and do not clock out for breaks, if taken on campus.

Qualifications:
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Must be able to communicate effectively in English
• Ability to follow written and verbal work instructions
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented manufacturing environment
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
• Ability to perform repetitive assembly tasks while maintaining production and quality standards
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Willingness to rotate between assembly positions as assigned
• Ability to work required overtime as needed

Physical Demands:
• Must be able to lift, carry, and maneuver bumper parts weighing approximately 6.7 to 63.5 pounds
• Must be able to lift and carry materials from floor level to heights of up to 6 feet
• Must be able to retrieve attachments from racks up to 74 inches high
• Must be able to lift and move boxes of components weighing up to 40 pounds from shelves up to 55 inches high
• Must be able to stand continuously on a concrete floor with intermittent walking throughout the shift
• Regularly required to bend, reach, twist, push, pull, grip, and perform repetitive hand and wrist movements
• Must have the fine motor coordination and hand strength necessary to manipulate nuts, washers, clips, wiring, and other small components
• Must be able to operate a 12-pound nut runner and use a rubber mallet during assembly operations
• Must be able to operate a two-handed manipulator using push/pull motions and thumb controls when assigned
• Must be able to push and pull bumper racks using up to 25 pounds of force
• Ability to work with another employee when two-person handling of bumpers or parts is required
• Must be able to work an 8-hour shift with potential overtime up to 10-12 hours

Work Environment:
• The work environment is representative of conditions typical for a manufacturing facility. Guardian West is not a climate-controlled facility. Safety precautions must always be followed to reduce exposure to hazards
• Fast-paced, production-oriented environment with continuously standing and frequent movement
• Work is performed primarily on concrete floors and around moving mechanical equipment
• Exposure to manufacturing noise, dust, odors, fumes, and airborne particles
• Employees are expected to follow all required safety procedures and wear designated personal protective equipment (PPE)
