Responsibilities Oversee day‑to‑day accounting for operational and corporate areas, including preparation and review of journal entries and reconciliations of general ledger accounts. Prepare, review, and analyze portfolio‑level income statements and balance sheets, providing executive summaries and fluctuation explanations. Ensure timely and accurate completion of general ledgers and establish standard record‑keeping and reporting practices in compliance with GAAP. Maintain effective internal controls in compliance with SOX. Research technical accounting matters (consolidation, lease, project cost, credit loss, JV) to ensure GAAP alignment. Prepare monthly and quarterly accounting reporting packages for executive management. Support preparation of the company’s SEC filings (10Q/10K) and supplemental reporting. Collaborate with regional teams on portfolio or market‑level financial analyses, property‑level transactions, and ad‑hoc requests. Prepare monthly JV partner reporting packages, including audited statements, cash‑flow statements, analytics, fluctuation analysis, operational overviews, and executive summaries. Act as liaison between AMH and joint venture partners, responding to financial statement and operational inquiries. Manage internal and external audit requests and participate in special projects such as process improvements and risk‑management initiatives. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration. Minimum of five (5) years of accounting experience, including managerial responsibilities. Joint‑venture accounting experience preferred. Experience with a public company and/or fast‑paced environment. CPA preferred. Strong verbal and written communication skills for interacting with all levels of the organization, lenders, partners, and vendors. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Experience with Yardi preferred. Experience with database compilation and extraction preferred. Ability to read and analyze joint‑venture, contract, and lease agreements. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and flexibility to handle diverse assignments under deadline pressure. Initiative to propose and implement new processes. Compensation & Benefits Salary: $112,596.00 – $140,748.00 annually (actual starting base pay within this range will depend on location, experience, and other factors). Additional compensation: discretionary annual bonus and stock.
