Secretary
VETERANS HEALTH ADMINISTRATION
Summary This position serves as the principal clerical and administrative support position in the immediate organizational unit for which the persons assisted have responsibility, by carrying out and coordinating all the clerical and day-to-day administrative support activities which are typically required to accomplish the work of the organization. The nature and variety of the activities depend on the needs of the organization served. Learn more about this agency Duties Help Duties:
- The incumbent provides clerical and administrative assistance to the organization.
- Controls the activities schedule and reminds managers of appointments.
- Obtains information required by management from various sources within the VA, requiring a comprehensive knowledge of the VA's complex organizational structure.
- Composes correspondence on own initiative, based on a knowledge of superiors' views and desires.
- Independently noting and following up on commitments made at meetings and conferences by staff members.
- Coordinate the work of the office with the work of other offices.
- Ensuring that reports and responses to correspondence are submitted by the staff on time and in the proper format, making travel arrangements, and scheduling conferences

- Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-06 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: At the GS-07 level, position performs, under immediate or general supervision, moderately difficult and responsible work in office, business, or fiscal operations requiring a moderate amount of training or other experience; good working knowledge of a special subject matter or a limited field of office procedure and practice; and the exercise of independent judgment in accordance with well-established policies, procedures and techniques.
