Company Description The Illinois FOP Labor Council is dedicated to “Protecting those who protect us” by representing and supporting law enforcement professionals across the state. The organization focuses on uniting its members into a strong, cohesive union that can effectively navigate growing anti-union sentiment. It emphasizes speaking with one clear, collective voice on behalf of its membership. The Council provides legal, labor, and advocacy services aimed at protecting members’ rights, working conditions, and professional integrity. Role Description The Attorney role is a full-time, on-site position based in Springfield, IL. This role involves providing legal representation and advice to union members in matters related to labor and employment law, including grievances, disciplinary actions, contract disputes, and administrative hearings. Day-to-day responsibilities include legal research, drafting motions and briefs, reviewing contracts and policies, and preparing cases for arbitration or other proceedings. The Attorney will also participate in negotiations, attend meetings with employers and union representatives, and help develop strategies to protect and advance members’ rights. Collaboration with labor staff, responding to member inquiries, and occasional travel for hearings or negotiations are also part of this role.
