Additionally, you will serve as a mentor to fellow team members, providing guidance and support to ensure the highest standards of care on the unit.The 2300 Unit at Unity Hospital is a 19-bed, high-acuity telemetry unit focused on delivering specialized care to patients with acute strokes, complex cardiac conditions, and a wide range of medical comorbidities. As a DNV Stroke Certified Patient-Centered Care Unit, it provides exceptional, high-quality care to a diverse patient population with both acute and chronic conditions.Key Features of the 2300 UnitPatient Population: Cardiac Care: Managing conditions like congestive heart failure, arrhythmias, and other cardiac events. Includes intensive care for patients requiring IV medications such as Insulin drips, Lasix, Heparin, and cardiac drips.Stroke & Neurological Care: Specializing in patients experiencing acute strokes, transient ischemic attacks (TIAs), seizures, and encephalopathy.Telemetry Monitoring: Provides continuous monitoring of heart rhythms and vital signs to ensure optimal care for patients with complex cardiac conditions and other high-risk comorbidities.Collaborative Team Environment: The unit promotes a team-oriented approach where nurses, healthcare professionals, and leadership collaborate closely to provide the best patient care.Nurse Autonomy: Nurses are empowered to make decisions based on their clinical assessments, advocating for patients and ensuring high-quality care.Open-Door Leadership: Charge nurses, nurse managers, and the unit director maintain an open-door policy, encouraging communication and support for team members.A strong emphasis on professional development is supported through comprehensive onboarding, mentorship, and Nurse Residency programs, ensuring nurses continue to grow and excel in their careers.Advanced Skills Training: Telemetry & Cardiac Monitoring: Specialized training in interpreting telemetry data and managing complex cardiac conditions to enhance nurses' clinical expertise.Stroke Care Protocols: Dedicated to timely and effective stroke response, the unit ensures nurses are proficient in NIH Stroke Scale assessments and stroke care protocols. The supportive leadership and focus on professional development make it an excellent place for both new and experienced nurses to thrive in a challenging yet rewarding environment.This role is part of the Registered Nurse Level IV / Clinical Nurse IV must complete the following:Complete the Clinical Ladder binder within 12 months of employmentMinimum of 5 activities in each Pillar (Leadership, Quality, and Organizational Contribution)15 Continuing education units (CEU's)20 Flex itemsStatus: Full TimeLocation: Unity HospitalDepartment: Stroke & Cardiac Care Unit (2300)Schedule: Day/Evening/Night - Every other weekend / holidayDesired Attributes:Bachelor's Degree in Nursing required.Minimum of 6 months experience as a registered nurse.Basic Life Support (BLS) certificationResponsibilities:Assessment: Perform initial and ongoing assessment of the patient; demonstrate exceptional clinical judgment and advanced assessment skills; communicate and document assessment with the interdisciplinary team; utilize all available resources in order to meet the needs of the patient and familyPlanning & Implementation: Develop and document plan of care, treatment and services; collaborate interdisciplinary health team to deliver care; maintains an appropriate nurse-patient relationship and provides an exceptional experience for the patient and familyEvaluation & Education: Evaluate, communicate and document patient responses to care; revise plan of care based on ongoing evaluations; ensure the patient receives and understands education/training specific to their needs and abilitiesTraining: Provide training for new team members on the unit; assume role of teacher for nursing students and other students shadowing on the unit; act as a resource for other team members for both clinical and non-clinical mattersEducation: BS: Nursing (Required)Licenses / Certifications:BLS - Basic Life Support - American Heart Association (AHA), RN - Registered Nurse - New York State Education Department (NYSED)Physical Requirements:M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.Pay Range: $37.18 - $49.92City: RochesterPostal Code: 14626The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for a successful full time applicant.
