How We Hire

This is a seasoned-tech role. We're looking for an experienced residential HVAC tech who already knows the systems, the diagnostics, and the repair. We can teach our processes, our products, and our way of taking care of customers. What we can't teach is work ethic, professionalism, and the drive to keep getting better.

 

One thing is non-negotiable: you have to be comfortable with technology. Bell runs on ServiceTitan, works from iPads in the field, and presents financing options digitally. Techs who embrace the tools ramp faster, communicate better with customers, and thrive here.

 

The Role — Service First, Solutions Second

You'll be dispatched to homeowners to diagnose, repair, and maintain their heating and cooling systems, and you'll be the person who walks them through their options when something needs to be replaced. You perform the service work yourself. When a system is at the end of its life, you make the replacement recommendation and our install team handles the installation.

 

The equipment you'll recommend: furnaces, air conditioners, mini-splits, boilers, air handlers, and heat pumps. The work you'll perform: diagnostics, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance across all of it.

Your earnings track the value you create for the customer. The better you are at solving the problem in front of you and giving the homeowner a clear, honest path forward, the more you earn. And there's room to grow into more here: our top techs mentor new hires and run our highest-value calls.

What You'll Earn

Most performance pay in this industry is a black box. Ours isn't:

• A guaranteed hourly floor of $28.94/hr (1.5× Denver minimum wage), paid during training and any time you're on the clock between jobs. You earn commission on the work itself. You're never not earning.
• 7% commission on the work you sell, paid the pay period after the job is complete and the balance is collected
• 7% commission on the revenue you generate, same terms
• $30 for every 5-star Google review, paid monthly
• Weekly pay, so you see the ramp in real time

These numbers are real. Our solid, ramped techs earn around $90K a year, and our top performers clear $150K and up, uncapped, before review bonuses. A first-year tech who hits their stride should realistically land in the $80K to $100K range.

Your Schedule

No rotating on-call. You're not living with a pager. Your nights are your own.

Our service techs work a standard weekday schedule. We keep Saturday coverage for our customers, but it isn't a constant rotation, you'd only pick up a Saturday when a normally scheduled teammate is out sick or on PTO. It's occasional, shared fairly across the team, and the exception, not the rhythm of the job.

• You believe craftsmanship and great service are the same job. You can recommend a system replacement without ever making a homeowner feel pressured.

• Recalls keep you up at night. Pride in clean work is non-negotiable for you.

Where You Might Be Coming From

• A big Denver shop like ARS, Applewood, or Cooper, where you've watched the senior techs cap out and you don't want that ending
• A shop that talks a big game on pay but pays hourly or commission, never both
• A small residential outfit that can't give you the lead flow to grow

This Role Isn't a Fit If…

• You're looking to learn the trade from scratch, this role requires real residential HVAC experience
• You want a clock-in, clock-out job rather than a long-term career

The Basics

• EPA 608 Type II certification (or Universal), required
• Minimum 5 years of residential HVAC service experience
• Boiler experience strongly preferred
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record, must be insurable on our fleet policy
• Pre-employment background check and drug screen required
• Comfortable lifting 75 lbs and working on ladders, in attics and crawlspaces, in Colorado's full range of seasons
• Professional appearance and presentation in a customer's home
