Description
The One-on-One Coordinator is responsible for managing the one-on-one assistance requirements for children and students 0-18 years old with cognitive, emotional, or physical special needs that greatly inhibit or prohibit them from participating in camp activities, as well as enabling them to participate and experience camp as best suited for them, including screening, coordinating, and communicating with families and MHA staff and departments, in a manner consistent with MHA's mission, vision and values.
Qualifications
Education:
- Some college required.
Work Experience:
- Experience working with special needs children and their families is highly desirable.
- Experience supervising others.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to establish priorities, work independently, without supervision, and make choices in the best interest of a child.
- Ability to communicate openly and effectively with child, his/her guardians, subordinates and supervisor.
- Must feel comfortable working with and around individuals with social, cognitive, or physical special needs.
- Must have patience and ability to set clear and loving boundaries.
Physical Demands:
The physical environment requires the employee to work both inside and outside in a variety of elements (hot/cold, dry/wet, day/night) on an uneven and hilly surfaces.Requires hearing, seeing, sitting, standing, squatting, stooping, twisting, swimming, running, climbing, pulling, pushing and lifting.Ability to lift/carry minimum of 15 lbs.
Additional Requirements/Skills :
- Adherence to the basic principles as expressed in MHA's Mission, Vision, Values and Commitment statements.
- Adherence to company dress code and professional standards for personal grooming and appearance.
- Satisfactory completion of background investigation as well as ability to provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
