Role: Accounting Specialist

Location: Commerce City, CO (in-office)

Salary: $55,000 - $65,000 / year, based on experience

Benefits: This role is eligible for health, dental, vision and 401K.

We are seeking a detail-oriented Accounting Specialist with nonprofit or education industry experience to support the full scope of accounting operations, administrative functions, and compliance requirements within a dynamic organization.

Responsibilities:

• Manage all business accounting systems and software, including ongoing maintenance and documentation
• Process full-cycle Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, review vendor invoices for accuracy, and generate payments
• Receive and deposit incoming payments in a timely manner
• Maintain records for grant-awarded funds and prepare financial reports for grant proposals and special funding requests
• Assist with annual audit preparation, including compilation of working papers
• Monitor changes to applicable education finance legislation and attend relevant finance seminars as required
• Track and report on departmental budget utilization
• Research vendors and obtain quotes for purchasing needs
• Purchase supplies, textbooks, and equipment; verify inventory; manage records; confirm receipts and process returns as needed
• Monitor copier maintenance and supplies
• Assist with mailing preparation including labels and envelope preparation
• Utilize personal or organizational vehicles to travel to off-site locations such as banks and post offices as needed

Requirements:

• 3+ years of experience as a full-charge Bookkeeper or blended accounts payable/accounts receivable experience required
• 2+ years of experience within the non-profit or education industries required
• Associate's degree in Accounting or related field strongly preferred
