Senior Director, Finance - Operations

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Director, Finance - Operations based in the United States.

This is a senior finance leadership role supporting a broad portfolio of cost-of-revenue and operational functions in a complex, regulated environment.
You will serve as a strategic finance partner to executive leaders, shaping decisions around growth, profitability, scalability, risk, and operational performance.
The role spans manufacturing, cost accounting, customer care, clinical operations, quality and regulatory, and sales and operations planning.
You will combine long-range financial strategy with hands-on involvement in forecasting, modeling, controls, integrations, and operational improvement initiatives.
A major focus will be building scalable finance capabilities, strengthening cost accounting, and developing a high-performing team for continued growth.
You will also help translate operational data into actionable insights that improve productivity, capacity planning, inventory management, and gross-margin performance.

Accountabilities

• Set the strategy, vision, and direction for finance support across cost-of-revenue and operational functions, aligning priorities and resources with enterprise growth, profitability, and scalability objectives.

• Serve as a trusted strategic advisor to executive leadership on operational strategy, financial performance, operating-model decisions, risk, and long-term value creation.

• Own long-range planning, annual budgeting, forecasting, and performance management for cost of revenue, gross margin, operating expenses, and capital investments across supported functions.

• Transform and develop the operations finance and cost-accounting organization by assessing capabilities, clarifying accountability, developing talent, and establishing scalable ways of working.

• Provide hands-on oversight of cost accounting, including close processes, standard costing, inventory accounting, reconciliations, controls, documentation, analytics, and business partnership.

• Partner with Finance, Accounting, Internal Audit, and external auditors to maintain a strong control environment for inventory and cost of revenue, including SOX-compliant processes.

• Lead finance integration activities for acquired businesses, covering cost structures, inventory, supply continuity, operating metrics, forecasting, reporting, and opportunities to improve gross margins.

• Build scalable finance capabilities for new products, services, and business adjacencies, including planning, reporting, cost allocation, operational readiness, and performance visibility.

• Strengthen sales and operations planning by connecting demand forecasts with capacity, labor, inventory, supply, service levels, and financial outcomes.

• Develop forward-looking financial models, dashboards, and operating metrics that connect business activity with cost, capacity, productivity, and gross-margin performance.

• Partner with operational leaders to identify and track productivity, sourcing, automation, network, and process-improvement initiatives, including benefits realization and delivery risks.

• Provide timely analysis of actual performance, forecast variances, risks, and opportunities, translating findings into clear recommendations and corrective actions.

• Personally engage in critical models, data analysis, close issues, integrations, and special projects while simultaneously building the organizational capabilities required for long-term scale.

• Identify and sponsor enterprise-wide opportunities that cross functions, business units, and geographies, aligning stakeholders and driving initiatives that improve performance and long-term value.

Requirements

• At least 15 years of relevant professional experience with a Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline, or 12 years with a Master's degree, or equivalent experience.

• 7–10 years or more of finance leadership experience, with a demonstrated ability to build, stabilize, and develop high-performing teams.

• Deep expertise in cost accounting and operational finance, including inventory, standard costs, manufacturing variances, cost of revenue, financial close processes, and related controls.

• Significant experience providing strategic financial leadership within complex manufacturing and operational environments.

• Experience leading finance organizations in regulated industries such as medical devices, healthcare services, medtech, or related healthcare environments.

• Public-company finance leadership experience, including working with internal and external auditors and supporting SOX-compliant processes and controls.

• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, operational finance, cost accounting, inventory accounting, financial controls, planning, forecasting, and executive performance management.

• Proven ability to translate complex financial and operational information into practical business strategies and recommendations.

• Demonstrated experience serving as a strategic advisor to executive leadership, constructively challenging assumptions, and influencing decisions without relying on direct authority.

• Experience improving finance organizations, processes, controls, systems, analytics, and reporting in complex, fast-growing, or changing environments.

• Strong analytical, financial modeling, and problem-solving capabilities, with the ability to connect operational data to financial implications.

• Enterprise-minded leadership style combined with strong ownership, sound judgment, discretion, and the ability to operate effectively at both strategic and tactical levels.

• Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Ability to manage multiple priorities, navigate ambiguity, balance competing demands, and deliver high-quality work in a fast-paced, matrixed environment.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, financial planning tools, ERP systems, and data and reporting platforms.

• Legal authorization to work in the United States without requiring employment visa sponsorship.

• Experience with QAD or a comparable manufacturing ERP is preferred.

• Experience integrating acquisitions, developing finance capabilities for new products or services, improving sales and operations planning, or working with globally distributed or shared-service teams is advantageous.

• Willingness to travel frequently to key operational sites and other company locations as business needs require.

Benefits

• Estimated base salary range of $206,000–$268,000 , with actual compensation determined by job-related factors including knowledge, skills, experience, and work location.
