Senior Java Software Engineer

Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Senior Java Software Engineer to design, develop, and support AWS cloud services and enterprise applications for mission-critical, high-volume transactional systems. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Java, Spring Boot, AWS, REST/SOAP services, relational databases, and Agile development, along with a passion for building scalable, reliable, and high-quality software solutions.


Key Responsibilities
• Design, develop, and implement high-quality Java-based applications and AWS cloud services to meet business requirements.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders, business analysts, architects, developers, and QA teams to deliver scalable software solutions.
• Create technical design documents, architectural diagrams, workflow diagrams, and sequence diagrams.
• Analyze technical dependencies across internal and external systems to determine optimal implementation approaches.
• Evaluate implementation alternatives through cost-benefit analysis to balance productivity, maintainability, and business requirements.
• Develop project estimates and implementation timelines.
• Present technical solutions and architecture to technical leadership and business stakeholders.
• Build efficient, scalable, and reliable software components and services.
• Develop and integrate REST and SOAP web services.
• Perform unit testing, performance testing, and support QA automation activities.
• Assist with application deployments and troubleshoot issues across development, testing, and production environments.
• Create and maintain technical and end-user documentation.
• Mentor junior developers and promote software engineering best practices.
• Collaborate with DevOps, DBA, Security, Infrastructure, Architecture, and PMO teams throughout the Software Development Life Cycle.
• Troubleshoot application issues and optimize application performance.
• Participate in Agile Scrum ceremonies and support continuous improvement initiatives.


Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Minimum 5 years of experience developing mission-critical, high-volume transactional applications in hybrid cloud and on-premises environments.
• Extensive experience with Java application development.
• Strong experience with Spring Boot, Spring MVC, or related Java frameworks.
• Experience using Java IDEs such as IntelliJ IDEA or Eclipse.
• Strong experience with Apache Maven.
• Extensive experience using Git for source control.
• Experience developing and integrating REST and SOAP web services.
• Strong experience with relational databases such as SQL Server or MySQL.
• Experience with AWS services including SQS, SNS, Lambda, and related cloud components.
• Strong understanding of end-to-end software design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance.
• Experience working within Agile Scrum development environments.
• Strong application performance tuning and optimization skills.
• Excellent debugging, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
• Strong sense of ownership and accountability for resolving defects, blockers, and technical issues.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.


Preferred Qualifications
• Experience within distributed retail industries such as automotive, hospitality, or banking.
• Experience working with Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA).
• Experience building customer-centric applications and case management workflow solutions.
