Senior Examination Services Analyst Department of Forestry & Fire Protection – Analyst III (JC-522814) – Salary: $6,623.00 - $8,290.00 per month. 12-month limited-term position, may be extended to 24 months with possibility of permanent appointment. Job Overview: This senior-level analyst leads department-wide examination initiatives, serves as a trusted advisor on state examination laws and regulations, and manages complex, high-profile examination projects. Responsibilities Lead and coordinate department-wide examination initiatives and strategic projects. Provide expert guidance and oversight for Career Executive Assignment (CEA) examination processes. Act as the department’s primary liaison with control agencies and external partners. Analyze and resolve highly complex examination issues with significant organizational impact. Develop and implement innovative solutions to improve examination processes and program effectiveness. Provide program-level leadership, consultation, and coordination to partners across the department. Exercise substantial independent judgment and decision-making authority in support of departmental examinations. Minimum Requirements These are the minimum qualifications for ANALYST III; additional qualifications may enhance candidacy. Advanced knowledge of California civil service examination principles and practices. Demonstrated experience in policy analysis, program leadership, and complex project management. Strong analytical and communication skills, including the ability to present to senior-level management. Experience coordinating with external regulatory entities such as CalHR and the State Personnel Board. Working Conditions Location: Riverpoint Marketplace area, West Sacramento (10 minutes from downtown). Free parking available. Telework: Hybrid telework option available under CAL FIRE’s telework policy; on-site presence required as needed.
