LVN / LPN - Corrections | Contract Assignment

Location: Chicago, IL

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) / Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for a 13-week contract assignment in a corrections healthcare setting. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, providing quality patient care, and floating within their scope of practice as needed.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer medications via oral, subcutaneous, NG/G-tube, and eye/ear drop routes
• Provide oxygen therapy using nasal cannula and face mask
• Perform wound care and dressing changes
• Insert and manage Foley catheters (male and female patients)
• Conduct blood glucose monitoring and documentation
• Assist with cardiac monitoring and emergency response situations
• Follow isolation and infection control protocols
• Complete patient admissions and ongoing assessments
• Monitor and record vital signs
• Assist patients with ambulation and activities of daily living
• Maintain accurate documentation using Cerner electronic medical records system

Minimum Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Practical Nursing program
• Active Illinois LPN license (or ability to obtain prior to start date)
• Current BLS certification
• Completion of pharmacology and medication administration coursework in accordance with state regulations
• Minimum of two (2) years of clinical nursing experience

Additional Requirements

• Every other weekend required
• Maximum of five (5) requested time-off days during the assignment
• No holidays, weekends, or days surrounding holidays may be requested off
• COVID-19 vaccination required
• Influenza (flu) vaccination required
