Vaco is hiring for an Interim CFO/Controller opportunity in Battle Creek MI

Duration: 1 year contract

Schedule: Hybrid

Pay: $60-85.00/hr

Our client is seeking a hands-on Interim Controller/CFO to provide financial leadership during a period of growth and acquisition activity. This role will oversee day-to-day accounting while providing financial reporting, analysis, and strategic support to ownership and private equity stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead month-end close , journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and financial statement preparation.
• Oversee the Accounting Manager and partner with HR regarding payroll.
• Prepare PE financial reporting, management reports, and Board decks .
• Partner with ownership and PE stakeholders on financial analysis, forecasting, cash flow, and business performance.
• Lead and support acquisition integration , including accounting processes, reporting, systems, and controls.
• Improve accounting processes, internal controls, reporting, and financial visibility.
• Oversee AP, AR, general ledger, and other core accounting functions.
• Work directly in QuickBooks and remain involved in day-to-day accounting as needed.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, audits, tax, banking, and other financial initiatives.

Qualifications:

• 7 years of progressive accounting/finance leadership experience; Controller or CFO experience preferred.
• Strong month-end close and financial reporting experience.
• Experience with private equity reporting and Board presentations .
• Acquisition/M&A integration experience strongly preferred.
• QuickBooks experience required.
• Strong Excel, analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Comfortable balancing strategic CFO-level responsibilities with hands-on accounting execution .
