LDRP/Mother-Baby Registered Nurse Float Pool

Overview Novant Health is seeking a compassionate and skilled LDRP/Mother-Baby Registered Nurse to join our Float Pool within the Healthcare & Medical Services department. In this role, you will provide comprehensive, family-centered care to women and newborns across labor, delivery, recovery, postpartum, and mother-baby units at multiple Novant Health facilities in the southeastern United States. As a float nurse, you will adapt to various unit needs while consistently upholding our commitment to safety, quality, and personalized care. Responsibilities The LDRP/Mother-Baby RN Float Pool nurse is responsible for delivering evidence-based nursing care throughout the perinatal continuum. You will perform thorough maternal and newborn assessments, monitor labor progress, interpret and respond to fetal heart rate tracings, manage pain and comfort measures, administer medications, and support safe vaginal and cesarean deliveries in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team. In the postpartum and mother-baby setting, you will provide holistic couplet care, recognizing early signs of complications, promoting bonding, and ensuring safe discharge planning through comprehensive education on newborn care, feeding, and postpartum recovery. Working within Novant Health’s culture of diversity, inclusion, and safety, you will partner closely with obstetricians, midwives, pediatricians, anesthesiologists, lactation consultants, and ancillary staff to coordinate timely and effective care. You will respond to obstetric and neonatal emergencies, including postpartum hemorrhage, preeclampsia, shoulder dystocia support, and neonatal distress, following established protocols and using advanced technology and monitoring systems. Accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record, adherence to infection prevention standards, safe medication administration, and compliance with all regulatory and organizational policies are essential components of this position. As part of the Float Pool, you will demonstrate flexibility, strong clinical judgment, and excellent communication skills while transitioning between labor and delivery, LDRP, postpartum, and mother-baby units based on staffing needs. You will quickly orient to unit workflows, support teammates, and contribute to a positive, collaborative environment that reflects Novant Health’s mission of improving health one person at a time. You will mentor and support less experienced staff as appropriate, participate in quality improvement initiatives, and engage in ongoing professional development to maintain and enhance clinical competence.
