Legal Counsel

Teamsters Local 705 is a large dynamic local representing approximately 17,000 members in the private and public sectors in the Chicagoland area. Local 705 is dedicated to the labor movement and providing excellent representation to its members. Local 705 is seeking a motivated attorney who is committed to the labor movement to join its legal department as its Legal Counsel. The ideal candidate is a motivated, analytical, an assertive litigant with excellent communication skills, and who is able to work in a fast-paced environment. Traditional labor arbitration experience preferred.

Job Description

• Represent and defend the local and its members in front of administrative agencies including the NLRB, ILRB, IDHR, IDOL, EEOC and other administrative agencies;
• Represent the local in Federal and State Court;
• Represent the Local and its members in arbitration hearings;
• Review collective bargaining agreements;
• Advise and assist business agents regarding contractual, organizing, and unfair labor practice matters; and
• Advise and assist in ad hoc legal matters.

Job Requirements

• Must have graduated from an ABA accredited law school;
• Licensed and is a good standing member with the Illinois Bar;
• At least 3-6 years of legal experience; and
• Must have excellent legal research and writing skills.

Salary ranges from $80,000 to $100,000 depending on experience, premium healthcare and retirement benefits.
