We support educators, youth workers, and other professionals in partnering with families to deliver successful, person-centered services and advance family voice in the policy process.The RoleINCLUDEnyc is seeking a full-time Senior Accountant to serve as the primary accounting lead, owning the day-to-day accounting cycle, for a $6M nonprofit. This role requires deep expertise in nonprofit accounting, particularly in public-funded environments. The candidate must be able to operate independently to meet deadlines and deliver on time and accurately.Core ResponsibilitiesExecute the monthly accounting close from start to finish, including account reconciliationsPrepare and post all journal entriesManage restricted grant allocationsOversee AR and AP processing and invoicingComplete quarterly government grant reporting and reimbursement requirementsMaintain general ledger integrityMaintain tracking and reporting for all public and private grantsCreate cash-flow projections for 3-4 months in advanceExecute, oversee, and approve bi-weekly payrollAssess, maintain, and strengthen internal financial controls and accounting procedures to ensure compliance and risk mitigationExperience in supporting annual financial statement auditsManage the fixed asset ledger, tracking additions, disposals, and monthly depreciationAssist with the preparation and filing of annual tax returns (IRS Form 990, NYS CHAR500) and other regulatory compliance filingsPreparation of audit schedules, board-level financial reports, grant budgets/reports, and ad hoc financial analyses and other related projects as neededQualificationsBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required7+ years of nonprofit accounting experience Demonstrated experience with nonprofit revenue recognition, including restricted contributions, conditional grants, and government fundingExperience with functional expense allocation methodologies and public grant compliance requirementsExcellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial data clearly to non-financial staff and leadershipStrong attention to data accuracy and financial control integrityProficiency with QuickBooks Online, including QuickBooks Projects and MS ExcelStrong working knowledge of Google Workspace, including Gmail, Docs, Sheets, and DriveFamiliarity with Salesforce is a plusCPA candidate is a plus, but not required.Additional DetailsSalary range $100- $115K annuallyReports directly to the Executive Director and works very closely with the Senior Manager of Finance and AdministrationFull-time- 35-hour with a 2-day in-person work week and 3 days remote work weekFlexible hours, but must have a predetermined overlap with the Executive Director for purposes of communication, coordination, and training and with the Sr Manager of Administration and FinanceMedical, dental and vision benefits are offeredLiberal PTO offeringsINCLUDEnyc provides IT equipment and necessary systems accessOrganizational Details~$6M revenue budget75% government grants19% foundation/corporate grants4% individual contributions1% program service fees1% other revenue41 headcountPrograms serve NYC constituentsTo ApplyPlease submit a cover letter and resume with your application.
