Job Description
The Maintenance Technician supports the upkeep, repair, and safe operation of HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing, and related facility systems. This role focuses on maintaining reliable building operations, responding to service needs, and performing preventive maintenance to ensure a safe and efficient environment.

Work Environment
This role primarily operates indoors with routine exposure to outdoor conditions as needed for maintenance tasks and snow removal. The position is based in a court building that is attached to a correctional facility, and you will balance independent assignments with collaborative work alongside other maintenance and facility staff. You will use a variety of tools and equipment daily, including ladders, lifts, platforms, power tools, and HVAC-related systems. Shift options include a daytime schedule from Sunday to Wednesday (6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.) and an evening schedule from Wednesday to Saturday (4:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m.), providing structured, predictable hours in a professional facilities environment.

Job Description
The Maintenance Technician supports the upkeep, repair, and safe operation of HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing, and related facility systems. This role focuses on maintaining reliable building operations, responding to service needs, and performing preventive maintenance to ensure a safe and efficient environment.
Responsibilities
- Service and repair HVAC, refrigeration, and plumbing systems to ensure reliable and efficient operation.
- Maintain air lines, exhaust fans, compressors, pumps, security doors, water softeners, pressure vessels, hydraulic systems, and emergency generators.
- Work on chillers, air dryers, heat pumps, ice machines, cooling towers, boilers, air handlers, VAV boxes, walk-in coolers and freezers, split systems, high volume air systems, and pneumatic and electronic controls.
- Operate and maintain chilled water air handling systems to support consistent building climate control.
- Support the operation and maintenance of vacuum pump and steam condensate systems.
- Perform snow removal as needed to maintain safe access to the facility.
- Conduct preventive maintenance and repairs using appropriate tools, equipment, and methods.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and plumbing issues and implement effective solutions.
- Perform general building maintenance tasks, including lighting, drywall repair, carpentry, painting, and maintenance repair activities.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in all assigned areas.
- Collaborate with team members and communicate effectively with facility staff regarding work status and needs.
- Follow all safety procedures and guidelines while working on ladders, lifts, platforms, and in varying conditions.
- Use power tools and other maintenance equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
- 2+ years of facilities maintenance or HVAC experience.
- Hands-on experience with preventive maintenance, installation, and repair of HVAC, refrigeration, and plumbing systems.
- Strong HVAC, electrical, and plumbing skills with proven troubleshooting ability.
- Experience with Building Automation Systems (BAS).
- EPA Certification.
- Valid driver's license.
- Ability to work comfortably from ladders, lifts, and platforms.
- Ability to work indoors, outdoors, and in varying weather conditions.
- Mechanical aptitude and familiarity with facility maintenance practices.
- Ability to perform maintenance repair tasks, including lighting and power-related work.
- Experience in general building maintenance, including drywall repair, carpentry, and painting.
- Experience in facility or building maintenance environments.
- Familiarity with preventive maintenance programs and documentation.
- Comfort using power tools and a variety of maintenance equipment.
- Strong communication skills for coordinating with facility staff and maintenance teams.
- Ability to balance independent work with collaborative tasks.
