Public Affairs Specialist

On-site position responsible for: Photos, Graphics and Print, Written Content

This position works directly with a government PAO

• Serve as the production resource supporting the development, preparation, and delivery of production-ready visual communications materials.
• Design, create, and update print and digital communications products, including brochures, fact sheets, reports, posters, flyers, PowerPoint presentations, maps, infographics, outreach materials, social media graphics, and internal communications.
• Translate complex information, technical concepts, and project data into visually engaging graphics, charts, diagrams, and infographics that effectively communicate key messages.
• Prepare production-ready files for commercial printing and digital distribution, ensuring proper specifications for bleed, trim, color profiles, resolution, and file formatting.
• Coordinate with commercial print vendors regarding production specifications, proofs, paper selection, finishing options, and delivery schedules to ensure high-quality printed materials.
• Review, proof, and quality-check design files to ensure accuracy, consistency, accessibility, and compliance with branding standards before publication or production.
• Manage and maintain digital asset libraries, including design files, templates, photography, logos, graphics, and multimedia content using approved asset management platforms such as Egnyte, Dropbox, or similar enterprise systems.
• Maintain organized file structures, version control, and naming conventions to ensure efficient collaboration and long-term asset management.
• Coordinate closely with content developers, copywriters, communications specialists, and government stakeholders to ensure visual materials support overall messaging objectives.
• Develop visual assets for websites, digital communications, email campaigns, presentations, and social media platforms.
• Capture high-quality photography supporting official on-site activities, leadership engagements, ceremonies, conferences, outreach events, and mission-related operations.
• Produce and edit official leadership and staff portraits.
• Perform professional image editing, retouching, color correction, and optimization for print and digital use using Adobe Photoshop and related software

Occasionally

• Capture video footage supporting official events, speeches, interviews, ceremonies, and organizational initiatives.
• Provide basic video editing support, including color correction, audio enhancement, graphics integration, captioning, and formatting for digital distribution.
• Support live streaming, webcast, and broadcast production activities for official VA events and communications.
• Create motion graphics, animated visual elements, and multimedia products supporting communications campaigns and presentations.
• Collaborate with communications staff, project managers, consultants, and government stakeholders to support outreach initiatives, special projects, and executive communications.
• Perform additional multimedia production and communications support duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Must be a U.S. Citizen.
• Ability to obtain and maintain any required VA security clearance or background investigation.
• Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communications, Photography, Multimedia Design, or a related field.
• Defence Information School (DINFOS) Graduate a plus
