This role offers an opportunity to provide critical pharmacist oversight in a retail compounding environment, with a focus on sterile and non-sterile compounding operations. The position requires a detail-oriented and proactive pharmacist dedicated to maintaining the highest standards of safety, compliance, and quality.

Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Job Type: Contract to Hire

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee sterile and non-sterile compounding processes, ensuring adherence to USP standards and all applicable state and federal regulations.
• Verify compounded and commercially available prescriptions for clinical appropriateness, accuracy, labeling, safety, and completeness.
• Enforce sterile cleanroom best practices including aseptic technique, hand hygiene, garbing, and contamination control.
• Supervise pharmacy staff performing sterile compounding, ensuring all required training and competency documentation is maintained.
• Review compounding and quality control records, logs, and documentation for compliance.
• Support environmental and personnel monitoring, media-fill testing, cleaning, disinfection, and related quality programs.
• Investigate and resolve deviations, errors, quality issues, and complaints.
• Assist in developing and improving pharmacy standard operating procedures and processes, maintaining inspection readiness.
• Collaborate with pharmacists, technicians, leadership, prescribers, and telehealth partners to optimize workflow efficiency.
• Provide patient counseling and communicate with prescribers for necessary clinical clarifications or interventions.
• Adapt to evolving staffing needs, workflows, technology, and prescription volumes.

Qualifications:

• Active, unrestricted pharmacist license in Maryland or California (or willingness and eligibility to obtain California licensure within 120 days).
• Demonstrated recent experience working with sterile compounding and USP-compliant pharmacy operations.
• Strong knowledge of pharmacy laws, USP standards, and professional practice requirements.
• Exceptional attention to detail and disciplined documentation skills.
• Ability to identify and mitigate compliance risks proactively.
• Capable of working independently while remaining collaborative and accountable.
• Strong professional judgment with the ability to manage competing priorities effectively.
• Flexibility to adjust responsibilities to support growth and change.
