Purpose Statement
Under the supervision of the Principal, demonstrate instructional and school leadership, provide organizational support, evaluate and supervise teachers, and monitor student performance. Assist in the supervision of instruction, curriculum, assessment, professional development and student discipline. Support the implementation of the STEM/ International Baccalaureate Programme and develop systems that support a positive and well- disciplined school community.
Essential Functions
The following duties are representative for this position. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned.
- Assist in the planning, implementation, monitoring and coordination of the curriculum using research-based practices, strategies and interventions. Use appropriate resources and procedures to assess student performance and improve instruction.
- Assist the principal in conducting an on-going assessment of the educational program including the strengths and areas in need of improvement; the analysis of test results, attendance records, discipline reports; feedback from students, staff, administrators and parents; and other formal and informal data.
- Promote collaborative parent/school/community relations and foster a positive school climate by guiding students and teachers towards increased student achievement.
- Communicate relevant policies and procedures regarding student discipline, conduct, and attendance to the students, staff and parents. Serve as the primary point of contact for discipline referrals.
- Maintain a safe and orderly environment by conferencing with students, teachers, and parents in regards to discipline concerns. Serve as primary point of contact for discipline referrals, detention, suspensions (in-school and out of school).
- Serve as the school testing coordinator and assist the IB Coordinator with the implementation of the PYP and MYP curriculums.
- Support Principal in coordinating school’s staff development based on school and staff needs, leading to academic success of all students.
- Conduct observations of teachers and staff using TKES, following all related protocols, procedures, and timelines.
- Serve as building leader in the absence of the Principal.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Education and/or Experience
Master’s degree from a Professional Standards Commission approved accredited college or university required. Minimum five (5) years’ experience in education, including experience as a classroom teacher. Prior supervisory/administrative, experience and work in an IB setting preferred.
Certificates, Licenses, Permits
Valid Georgia Professional Standards Commission approved certificate in educational leadership at level 5 or above required.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Knowledge of effective instructional teaching methodologies, principles and methods for curriculum and training, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training effects; personnel recruitment, selection, training, management, labor relations and supervision; policies and procedures; federal , state and local policies governing charter schools and public education; IBO principles, practices, policies and guidelines; relevant resources and services; academic excellence, operational performance, superior culture, and financial health and growth; curriculum and standardized testing guidelines for the school and state requirements; programs and procedures pertinent to exceptional education students, child and substance abuse, and social adjustment.
Skill in effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication; developing and analyzing standards-based lessons, units, and assessments, active listening, judgement and decision making; coordinating and collaborating with federal, state, regional and local organizations and departments to establish and execute responsibilities; administration and management; recruiting, training and motivating employees; preparing assignments and assessments.
Ability to use data in the decision-making process and strong analytical and problem-solving skills; lead staff and students; coach and manage the performance of others; solicit feedback to improve performance; continuously elevate professional contributions; be open and receptive to ongoing feedback; direct and administer the programs and services of a non-profit educational and/or service organization; establish objectives and procedures governing the performance of assigned activities among employees; work with large amounts of data, interpret data, detect errors, and prepare reports; develop and understand financial and/or operating reports; plan and develop course of study suitable for specific grade levels; organize and manage multiple priorities.

The employee must occasionally lift, carry, move and/or restrain school-age students and move equipment and/or supplies. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, but occasionally high depending upon student population and activities. The employee is frequently exposed to wet or humid conditions and outdoor weather conditions. Employee may be exposed to bloodborne pathogens.

Twelve-month work year. Salary and benefits shall be in accordance with compensation guidelines approved by the Board of Directors and the Executive Director

Performance will be evaluated annually by the Principal or designee.
