Physical Therapist

Job Summary:

The Physical Therapist is responsible for implementing patient rehabilitation programs to improve mobility, function, and strength. This role involves evaluating and treating patients, supervising PT Assistants and Aides, maintaining accurate documentation, and collaborating with healthcare providers to ensure quality patient care. The Physical Therapist must be licensed in the state of practice and capable of performing physical tasks related to patient care in an outpatient rehabilitation setting. Responsibilities:

• Evaluate and treat patients using physical therapy and rehabilitation programs.
• Maintain and update PT skills and certifications as required.
• Utilize Electronic Medical Records to complete evaluations, reports, and discharge summaries.
• Guide and monitor patient care throughout treatment and follow-up.
• Supervise PT Assistants and Aides in all aspects of patient care.
• Communicate effectively with physicians, co-workers, and other offices via phone, fax, and email.
• Ensure accurate patient chart documentation and follow-up on prescriptions, test results, and authorizations.
• Assist patients by answering questions and ensuring comfort during treatment.
• Coordinate with front office staff regarding scheduling and patient follow-up.
• Make independent decisions related to patient care.
• Participate in business marketing and referral processes when necessary.
• Adhere to HIPAA policies and procedures to protect patient privacy.
• Follow PT billing policies and procedures, including Medicare, workers' compensation, private insurance, and cash pay.
• Be proficient in diagnosis and ICD-10 coding for billing services.
• Perform physical activities including stool sitting, walking, prolonged standing, lifting up to 50 pounds, and assisting patients with mobility and transfers.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Active license as a Physical Therapist in the state of intended work.
• Degree in Physical Therapy.
• Proficiency in Electronic Medical Records and computer skills (typing, Word, Internet).
• Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and patient privacy protection.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical activities related to patient care.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Continuing education courses in Physical Therapy.
• Experience with Medicare, workers' compensation, private insurance billing, and ICD-10 coding.

Special Considerations:

• Work performed in an outpatient/rehabilitation clinic setting.
• Compliance with OSHA, federal, and state regulations.
• Must actively participate in company privacy training and report any privacy concerns.
• Physical demands include walking, sitting, standing, bending, lifting, and supporting patients.
• No travel is expected for this position.

Scheduling:

• Preferred schedule of four 9-hour days plus one 4-hour day (4x9's & 1x4 schedule).
• Day shifts in a clinic outpatient setting.
