PRIMARY SUMMARY:

Manufactures tool and dies for various production machines. Analyze specifications, lay out metal stock, set up and operate machine tools, and fit and assemble parts to make and repair dies, cutting tools, jigs, fixtures, gauges, and machinists' hand tools.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Troubleshoots problems on production machines and repairs all types of stamping dies when necessary. Plans the sequence of operations, fabricates and assembles all types and sizes of tools and dies from tool design and engineering information. Sets up and operates a variety of machines such as the milling machine, lathe, surface grinder, jig bore in fabrication of tools and dies. Fabricates and assembles all types of sizes of tools and dies of irregular contours (including checking fixtures and precision gauges) such as progressive dies, and compound dies. Operates machine tools in fabrication of tools and dies as required. OD and surface of grinding of tools, dies and gauges as required. Verify dimensions, alignments, and clearances of finished parts for conformance to specifications, using measuring instruments such as calipers, gauge blocks, micrometers, and dial indicators. Study blueprints, sketches, models, or specifications to plan sequences of operations for fabricating tools, dies, or assemblies. Able to recognize cosmetic non-conformances based on Company specifications such as; burrs, galling, cracked edges, slug marks, dimensional changes in production parts and initiate action to prevent non-conformance such as stopping the machine and notifying Supervisor. Follow all 5S department procedures which include but are not limited to; keeping floors clean of oil and debris, returning tools to proper locations, organize part pans, and performs other housekeeping duties. Attends all required job related training (internal and external). Read and interpret blueprints or other job specifications. Ability to make all inspections on machined parts using precision measuring equipment.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Computer Skills To perform this job successfully, an individual should have basic knowledge of mainframe computer systems and be familiar with Spreadsheet and Word Processing software. Language Skills Ability to read a limited number of two and three syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences. Mathematical Skills Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Reasoning Ability Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Certificates, licenses, registrations Evidence of “US person” is required under ITAR.
