Registered Dietitian

Hutchings Psychiatric Center (HPC) , an Office of Mental Health (OMH) Joint Commission accredited hospital, is recruiting a Registered Dietitian (RD) to serve as a Dietitian 2 supporting nutritional care and food service operations. The schedule for this position is Monday – Friday, day shift; may require occasional weekend and holiday coverage.

As a Dietitian 2, you will be responsible for ensuring safe, therapeutic, and nutritionally adequate meal service for patients while maintaining compliance with federal, state, and facility standards including:

• Conducting nutrition assessments for patients as ordered or required.
• Developing, implementing, and monitoring individualized nutrition care plans.
• Providing therapeutic diet recommendations based on medical, psychiatric, and behavioral needs.
• Providing nutrition counseling and education to patients and staff.
• Documenting nutrition assessments, interventions, and progress notes in the medical record according to facility policy.
• Assisting with oversight of daily food service operations to ensure safe and efficient meal production and delivery.
• Assisting with infection prevention practices related to food handling and meal service.
• Monitoring compliance with food safety and sanitation standards including HACCP principles.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Current registration with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) as a Registered Dietitian (RD) or
• New York State Education Department (NYSED) certification in dietetics-nutrition and have completed a minimum of an additional 400 hours of supervised dietetics practice under the supervision of a RD.
