PUBLIC HEALTH NURSE II, CORRECTIONAL FACILITY - CALIFORNIA STATE PRISON, SOLANO
California Prison Health Care Services
Effective July 1, 2025, in accordance with the applicable Memorandum of Understanding, the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) was implemented in response to the status of the State budget. PLP 2025 requires each full-time employee in Bargaining Unit 17, and related Excluded, Exempt and Statutory Exempt employees, will have their base salary reduced by 3 percent and will receive 5 PLP 2025 leave credits monthly through June 2027. Salaries do not reflect the recent changes.
Under the general direction of the Supervising Registered Nurse II/III, Correctional Facility (CF), the Public Health Nurse (PHN) II, CF is responsible for planning, coordinating, and evaluating the institutional public health and infection control programs at intermediate institutions. The PHN II, CF provides technical assistance to institutional staff in the implementation of infectious disease control policies and procedures and conducts epidemiological investigations with the guidance of the Public Health Branch, California Correctional Health Care Services. Interacts with State and local authorities on public health issues. The PHN II, CF, in collaboration with the health care team, ensures the delivery of appropriate and timely health care to patients and coordinates interdisciplinary communication to promote continuity of care. The PHN II, CF is responsible for addressing the ongoing health care needs of patients and for promoting the timely, efficient, and appropriate use of health care resources. Minimum QualificationsPossession of a current license as a Registered Nurse in California and a current certificate as a Public Health Nurse in California. (Applicants who do not meet these requirements will be admitted to the examination, but they must secure the required license and certificate before they will be considered eligible for appointment.) Special Requirements
- The position(s) require(s) a Background Investigation be cleared prior to being hired.
- The position(s) require(s) Medical Clearance prior to being hired.
Candidates who have been withheld may file an appeal with the State Personnel Board. Candidates new to CCHCS are required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan Fingerprinting. Tuberculosis (TB) testing is required for candidates new to CCHCS prior to appointment followed by department annual TB testing/evaluation thereafter.
Applicants who completed their education outside of the US (with foreign degrees/transcripts) must obtain and submit verification of U.S. course/degree equivalency.
