Electromechanical Systems Technologist, PLC and Drives (Fiber Plant)

Location: Claremont Fiber | Reports To: Claremont Fiber Maintenance Manager

Pay Range: $28-$38 based on experience | Shift Pattern: 12-hour, 2-2-3 rotating (EOWEO)

What challenges will you solve?

• Capture a clear record of your activities every shift—daily or more often when needed.
• Get up to speed quickly on Prysmian’s fiber manufacturing equipment, philosophy, procedures, and practices.
• Act as a Medical First Responder in the Fiber Plant.
• Advance through Prysmian’s pay-for-skill program to expand your impact.
• Deliver timely, cost-effective, high-quality maintenance aligned to both short- and long-term operating plans.
• Uphold equipment reliability, availability, output capacity, quality, and strong internal customer service.
• Partner with the Maintenance Lead Person and/or Maintenance Manager on correct installation and repair methods for electrical, electronic, and mechanical systems.
• Flag any needs for additional hand, power, or electronic diagnostic tools to the Maintenance Manager or Maintenance Lead Person.
• Carry out preventive maintenance tasks per Maintenance supervision.
• Champion safe work practices and adhere to company policies at all times.
• Help set and sustain optimal stock levels of critical components.
• Take on other assignments as directed by the Maintenance Manager.

Success in your first 90 days

• Demonstrate familiarity with the manufacturing floor, assets, and safety expectations.
• Consistently complete preventive maintenance routes.
• Provide accurate, timely shift documentation and activity reporting.
• Respond effectively as a Medical First Responder.
• Model safe work habits and policy compliance.

What you bring

Baseline requirement: High school diploma or GED, plus one of the following (or equivalent experience as determined by the Maintenance Manager):

Pathways

• Associate’s degree in Electrical Technology, Electronics Technology, or Mechanical Technology
• Military background : minimum 2 years with training in Electrical, Electronics, or Mechanical Technology
• On-the-job training : minimum 3 years in industrial maintenance (electrical, electronics, or mechanical)

Hands-on capabilities

• Perform low-to-high voltage tasks; lay out and wire complex circuits with numerous connections.
• Troubleshoot and correct faulty logic and control circuits; install, repair, and test virtually all production and plant equipment.
• Handle light-to-heavy mechanical work; general plumbing and carpentry; floor and tile installation/repair.
• Use hand and power tools; volt/ohm/amp meters; oscilloscopes; and other diagnostic equipment confidently.
• Demonstrated mechanical, electrical, and electronic aptitude; analytical, technical problem solver.
• Strong work ethic with minimal supervision; excellent communicator.
• SAP experience preferred; fiber manufacturing experience preferred.

Physical demands

• Lift, bend, and stoop as needed; stand for extended periods.
• Spend extended time at a laptop or PC workstation.
• Occasional standing, sitting, walking, and phone work.

Work setting

• Work under varying conditions including dust, oil, grease, hot and humid temperatures, fumes, and noise.
• Wear required PPE: safety shoes, safety glasses, and hearing protection as required in manufacturing areas.
• Enter walled containment areas and access roofs infrequently; conditions may be uncomfortably hot or cold.
