Work Hours: Full-Time

A day in this role

When your shift begins, you’ll review job travelers and inspection plans, prepare your work area to 5S expectations, and stage die cast components for secondary machining. You will load and unload parts into CNC machining centers, start machine cycles, and keep a close eye on alarms or obvious issues. Between cycles, you’ll conduct basic inspections with go/no-go gauges and simple measuring tools, documenting counts and inspection results accurately. Throughout the day, you’ll handle parts carefully to prevent damage or mix-ups, maintain a clean and organized station, and communicate any concerns to a Machinist II/III, lead, or supervisor. You’ll also participate in training and build your machining knowledge step by step.

What you will do

• Load and unload parts into CNC machining centers for secondary operations on die cast components
• Start machine cycles; monitor for alarms and obvious abnormalities
• Perform basic part checks using go/no-go gauges and simple measurement tools as trained
• Visually inspect parts for defects, damage, or clear nonconformities
• Follow work instructions, job travelers, and inspection plans exactly as written
• Maintain an orderly work area aligned with safety and 5S standards
• Handle parts to prevent damage and avoid mix-ups
• Record production counts and inspection outcomes with accuracy
• Escalate concerns to Machinist II/III, leads, or supervisors promptly
• Participate in training and show a strong desire to learn machining skills

What you bring

• Ability to safely operate machinery after training; adherence to all safety rules
• Comfort with basic machine controls (start, stop, cycle hold, emergency stop)
• Consistency and accuracy with repetitive tasks
• Use of simple measuring tools and understanding of pass/fail criteria
• Recognition of obvious quality issues and timely escalation

What this role does not require

• Setting up machines or changing tooling
• Adjusting offsets or modifying CNC programs
• Interpreting complex blueprints or GD&T
• Independently troubleshooting machining or process issues

Education and experience

Required Education: Accredited HSD/GED

Experience for Level 1: 0–2 years of CNC machining experience

• Entry level: 0–1 year, especially with CNC training, trade school, or apprenticeship
• Typical requirement: Around 1–2 years of CNC machining experience
