Staff Accountant

Vaco is hiring for a Staff Accountant opportunity in Kansas City. Direct Hire, Onsite Salary: 60-70,000/yr General Accounting Prepare and post journal entries, maintain general ledger accuracy, and support month-end and year-end close. Perform account reconciliations, including bank accounts, balance sheet accounts, intercompany activity, and escrow accounts. Assist in preparing financial statements, variance analysis, and supporting schedules. Real Estate & Development Accounting Support project/job cost accounting, including tracking invoices, coding, commitments, and budget-to-actual comparisons. Assist with preparing lender draw requests, monthly reporting packages, and capital call documentation. Maintain fixed asset schedules, depreciation entries, and documentation for property acquisitions and dispositions. Help monitor construction and development costs, soft costs, and capitalized interest. Accounts Payable & Receivable Process invoices, ensure proper approval workflow, and support vendor communications. Prepare and process checks, ACH payments, and wires. Assist with tenant billing, CAM reconciliations, and tracking rent schedules (if applicable). Compliance & Internal Controls Help maintain accounting policies, documentation, and compliance with GAAP. Support audits, tax preparation requests, and required financial reporting. Cross-Department Collaboration Work closely with development, construction, finance, and property management teams to gather data and ensure accurate financial reporting. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. 1–4+ years of accounting experience; real estate, development, construction, or property management experience preferred.
