Compensation The base hourly rate for this position is $35.93. Position Overview Disclaimer: this is a day shift position (5am–5pm). The Maintenance Technician’s role is to perform routine and non‑routine maintenance on production and facility equipment to support the manufacturing of roofing materials. The position is responsible for meeting facility targets for safety, productivity, and machine uptime, and for providing problem‑solving and corrective actions. Responsibilities Follow all Johns Manville safety and environmental procedures and policies. Attend plant safety and training meetings as scheduled. Follow Job Safety Analysis (JSA’s), use safe work practices, and report hazardous conditions at all times. Wear protective clothing and equipment as required. Develop JSA’s for new tasks and review them annually. Demonstrate ability to train co‑workers about various systems in the plant. Perform routine and non‑routine maintenance activities of mechanical and electrical systems. Develop and modify preventive maintenance plans for new and modified equipment. Execute installation and repair of electrical conduit and cable, including connections, controls, grounding and related components. Work from electrical and mechanical schematics to troubleshoot or install new or modify existing equipment. Operate voltmeter, ammeter, wattmeter and other electrical measurement tools. Inspect equipment, report on defective parts and unsatisfactory conditions, and contribute to the preventive maintenance program. Provide solutions to improve equipment efficiency. Maintain, adjust, service and lubricate equipment to keep it in good operating condition. Participate in continuous improvement and Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) teams. Assist co‑workers as directed and complete other duties assigned by the supervisor. Provide feedback and solutions to leadership on critical equipment issues affecting safety or operations. Display flexibility toward change management and willingness to obtain operating knowledge of all production equipment. Participate in daily housekeeping efforts and keep the job site and maintenance shop clean. Communicate status of planned and unplanned jobs, parts availability, and engineering or technical resource needs to plant supervision. Qualifications Must be signed off on all Maintenance Technician II job qualifications. High school diploma or equivalent. 4‑7 years of multi‑craft maintenance experience. Strong commitment to safety. Ability to work well with others. Strong problem‑solving capabilities. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced environment. Intermediate computer skills. Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and handle multiple priorities and projects. Proficient in disassembling, diagnosing, repairing, and performing preventive measures on mechanical equipment such as pumps, gearboxes, reducers, couplings, seals, rotating elements, blowers, fans, hydraulic units, valves, chillers, and compressors. Advanced mechanical aptitude, including pipe fitting, fabricating, and the use of hand and power tools. Knowledge of shop machinery such as hydraulic press, mill & drill press, lathe, and saws (band & chop). Intermediate knowledge of building lighting systems, AC/heating systems, and building fire alarm systems. Advanced knowledge of Lock‑Tag‑Clear‑and‑Try program. Intermediate knowledge of PLC and VFD troubleshooting. Demonstrated understanding of 480V systems, arc‑flash training, and NFPA 70E safe working practices. Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose process heating and cooling equipment. Consistently make appropriate decisions while being flexible with work assignments and priorities. Physical Requirements Ability to stand for extended periods. Ability to manually lift, push, or pull at least 50pounds safely with proper body mechanics, sometimes in awkward positions. Use of hands (repetitive motion, grabbing, sensing, pulling). Ability to work safely in a fast‑paced, sometimes stressful work environment. Ability to work safely and effectively in a dusty environment with a broad range of temperatures. Ability to withstand the rigors of a 12‑ (or 8‑) hour rotating shift schedule. Ability to bend, stoop, or kneel repetitively. Ability to reach or work above the shoulder. Incumbent must be physically able to perform essential job functions.
