We are looking for an experienced Accounting Specialist to join a financial services organization in Stockton, California on a Long-term Contract basis. This role will support core accounting operations, help maintain accurate financial records, and provide day-to-day oversight across key transactional and reporting activities. The position is well suited for a detail-oriented individual who can work independently, collaborate with support staff, and contribute to process enhancements within the accounting function.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee daily general ledger activity to confirm transactions are recorded correctly and financial data remains complete and accurate.

• Examine and authorize journal entries and related accounting adjustments before posting.

• Review account reconciliations on a regular basis and step in to prepare reconciliations when additional support is needed.

• Partner with the accounting team to manage routine operational tasks and maintain smooth day-to-day workflow.

• Monitor accounts payable activity to help ensure invoices and payments are processed accurately and within expected timelines.

• Investigate discrepancies in financial records and recommend practical improvements to strengthen accounting procedures.

• Refine accounting policies and documentation to support consistency, compliance, and operational efficiency.

• Provide guidance and day-to-day support to accounting staff members while helping maintain high-quality work standards.

• Contribute to Prologue-related implementation efforts and assist with other accounting or finance initiatives as assigned.

• At least 5 years of progressive experience in accounting roles with increasing responsibility.
• Strong knowledge of general ledger processes, journal entries, and financial transaction review.
• Hands-on experience performing and evaluating account reconciliations.
• Familiarity with accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing functions, and broader accounting operations.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
• Ability to work independently while also providing support and direction to team members.
• Excellent attention to detail, organization, and communication skills.
