Position: Associate Attorney
Location: El Segundo, CA
Duration: Full-time & direct hire
About the job:
Client is seeking experienced insurance defense attorneys ready to elevate their careers and build toward partnership. Our practice includes complex medical malpractice and elder abuse defense , representing major healthcare systems, hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, and other institutional clients, as well as entertainment venues and government agencies.
Responsibilities:
- Manage an active litigation caseload from inception through resolution.
- Draft pleadings, motions, discovery, and other legal documents.
- Conduct legal research and prepare persuasive written advocacy.
- Take and defend depositions.
- Attend court hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and settlement conferences.
- Develop case strategy in collaboration with partners and senior attorneys.
- Communicate effectively with clients, carriers, experts, and opposing counsel.
- Maintain accurate billing and meet annual billable hour expectations.
- Mentor junior attorneys and support staff as appropriate.
Qualifications:
- Active membership in the California State Bar.
- 3-10+ years of civil litigation experience preferred.
- Experience in one or more of the following is a plus:
- General Liability
- Medical Malpractice
- Dental Malpractice
- Public Entity Defense
- Professional Liability
- Strong legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
- Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
