Position: Associate Attorney

Location: El Segundo, CA

Duration: Full-time & direct hire

About the job:

Client is seeking experienced insurance defense attorneys ready to elevate their careers and build toward partnership. Our practice includes complex medical malpractice and elder abuse defense , representing major healthcare systems, hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, and other institutional clients, as well as entertainment venues and government agencies.

Responsibilities:

• Manage an active litigation caseload from inception through resolution.
• Draft pleadings, motions, discovery, and other legal documents.
• Conduct legal research and prepare persuasive written advocacy.
• Take and defend depositions.
• Attend court hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and settlement conferences.
• Develop case strategy in collaboration with partners and senior attorneys.
• Communicate effectively with clients, carriers, experts, and opposing counsel.
• Maintain accurate billing and meet annual billable hour expectations.
• Mentor junior attorneys and support staff as appropriate.

Qualifications:

• Active membership in the California State Bar.
• 3-10+ years of civil litigation experience preferred.
• Experience in one or more of the following is a plus:
• General Liability
• Medical Malpractice
• Dental Malpractice
• Public Entity Defense
• Professional Liability
• Strong legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills.
• Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
• Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
