About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Neuro Stepdown & EMU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12 Hour Days Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Required Certifications: BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Strong neuro experience, history of caring for stroke patients, Epic experience Description: The position involves providing care to higher acuity neuroscience patients. Experience with external ventricular drains (EVDs) is preferred. Candidates will manage patients with strokes, seizures, and those recovering from craniotomy procedures. Nursing staff will work in a stepdown setting where titration of drips is done based on physician orders. Candidates should be familiar with commonly used titratable medications. The ratio of nurse to patient is typically 1:3 in the stepdown unit. Nursing staff are expected to work weekends and into the holiday rotation. Candidates should demonstrate flexibility in scheduling. Nursing staff will have access to respiratory therapy services 24/7. Monitor techs are available, and nurses do not need to read telemetry strips. There may be a requirement to float to other units as needed. The dress code includes royal blue scrubs. There is a charge nurse available 24/7 on the unit. This role is critical in delivering high-quality care to patients in a demanding yet rewarding environment.
